When I watched this from Beasty's perspective, I didn't realize how they managed to completely bankrupt Szalami during the wonder battle. If they had proxy production or something, the combined economies of Beasty and Nevix would have been able to break Szalami for sure.

That's actually a VERY good point u make, I just went and saw the new Batman today and this was leaps and bounds more entertaining, equal parts gameplay and casting, together wat they breed is literally better than wat Hollywood is doing..? That was a fun game. I agree that rather than just focusing at competitive and 'balanced' stuffs it's better if AoE4 could give equal attention to fun stuffs like Nomad, megarandoms, spectator chat, and other stuffs that enable you to fool around and have fun

So many great decisions from Szalami. The location, the rewall, the snipe of a major threat to the South, the feign on engaging the wonder, and of course his own wonder placement.
Well, the location wasn't a decision that he made, but everything else went very well for him. I am just surprised at how poorly Core played, considering he had every opportunity to win this game if he'd been smarter with his walls.

take a bow Szalami....very smart play from the beginning...didnt go for destroying Core's landmark coz he knew others will do the job for him...waited fr perfect timing once the no. of enemies had reduced and then created his own wonder....later his usual cape savior spam rush formula came to rescue.
He really did play it beautifully, even as far as to wipe out all of his vils to maximize his snipe on Kyo, the Wololo on Snoopa, the snipe on Core, into the Wonder win, he's definitely my favorite player to watch and he really showed why in this game

i hope to god they make these custom modes accessible and easy to access through official matchmaking, mod and creator support is consistently the difference between the quick death of gaming communites and long term cult classics.
I didn't realize I was watching a 90 minute game until I was already 50 minutes in. It was 6 AM. I kept watching anyways, because this game was so dang crazy! Loads of props for the amazing casting keeping the energy up the whole 90 minutes and even getting bigger with the huge plays during the Wonder sieges! I was thoroughly entertained the entire time, and learned alot about the new game watching. I used to play these big FFA games with buddies in college in AoE2 and they were as wild as this. So much personality in each of the players and their strategies, hahah I imagined Szalami was like Russia in WW2 watching as the Allies stormed in on Germany, carefully plotting their betrayal. And then the HUNDRED SCOUT CAVALRY getting the surround and sacrificing their lives for mother russiaaa xDD I think yellow and orange were unfortunately just so close that they were just suck in that 100 years war draining their resources all game, they weren't ready to take on Szalami up top. They should have made a truce and built military production buildings in the corner of the map where Kyo (pink) was. Szalami played so well though he had every contingency prepared for, used up every stored resource he had stockpiled to the last drop for his Wonder hold, and the multiple wall defenses is always the most solid defense if you can afford the walls. Even the cheeky wood cut he did to get into orange's base was so delicately done to keep orange from noticing. I feel like the playstyle and strategy you use ends up being a result of your civiliations bonuses, starting geography, and personal tendency/personality. Very interesting to watch. Like choosing an aggressive center spawn gives the most access to surrounding resources but also puts adversaries from every flank, so you need to use the resource advantage early to expand and take someone out to secure your flanks, before entrenching and digging in with keeps and walls. I didn't think yellow or teal would win because they started so deep in the corner actually, though corner is definitely the best end game position for winning the Wonder rush! My friend would always proxy siege buildings right outside my walls and castles to keep the siege pressure during his attacks, so trades were usually not worth it, and even after taking out one push, another push was immediately right behind! Anyways, this was an awesome video! Looking forward to future content! Hoping they fix those catapults! They should make them more like the AoE onagers! Slower and clunkier, but great at melting low healthy infantry and buildings. They had like a scatter spread projectile with way more Area of Effect they were devastating in end game fights, a dozen could reduce an entire army of tier 4 man at arms and hand cannon to dust. They put those catapults to shame! And I hundred agree about the Wonder timing and placement. Big mistake by blue to not put the wonder closer to the corner, and also making the wonder while so many other players were alive. The positioning was worse for blue than for teal at top because blue's position at the bottom made it easy for each player to wage individual battles on different fronts all along his border. The teamwork and coordination was pretty insane how they managed to break through at just the perfect timing. Very cheeky of blue to try that hahaha GG to all well done I gotta pick up this game now
Would've been a chad move if Nevix and Beasty cleaned out Szalami's houses. He was confident in having a long queue of troops at the ready, but with no vills losing the housing would've neutered his kingdom and lost him the game. Still a great game, was a lot of fun watching. Definitely have to give it a shot at some point.
he did have extra houses built if m nt wrong. few houses outside the main battle arena as a hedge incase pop cap comes in. in one of the scene the bombards take down houses but the cap dint go down. even beasty and other guy relaized its futile to engage and take down houses
Writing this at 1:26:00 . That will be a very easy wonder win for Szalami. Beastyqt can't attack because if he does Nevix will backstab him. Nevix can't attack because ther is Beastyqt in his way and he will also definetly take revenge. Core is the only one that can attack but with weak army, so Szalami will attack to Core with half of his army maybe either gonna fully destroy or cripple him for the next 20 minutes which then the game will be over by then ..
used to play a lot aoe2 on multiplayer i was pretty good early era-s but my macro on late games was not that good. Anyways these vids really make me want to get and try aoe4. I see a lot of e-sport potential on this game because even not knowing much about the game its understandable and not that hard to follow. i hope game developer puts some effort into competitive side. Would like them to have long term goal to have it regular pro touraments etc. Your commentary is very good and it makes these videos super good to watch. thank you.

I play AOE when I was a kid I think was the 2 but now I started playing this one and I'm loving it and watching how this people play makes me want to improve more and more
I found that abbey of kings is great for horse raids I mean just building knights or whatever hit hard and run back to the abbey of kings for heals if it looks like the battle is going bad, its better with monks around it

Casters should link to the socials / channels of the pro players involved to give proper sources and credit. I think this game was originally set up by BeastyQT (probably with the intention of creating content for his own TH-cam in mind). Adding a link to that in the description would be minimum professional courtesy, imo.
Wish they'd make an adaption for the new gen consoles like halo wars, Supreme commander, etc. I usually just made custom maps and the largest armies I could in the older aoe games way back when.
