I have been privileged to visit Banff NP many times. I never tire of its beauty and count it as one of the most beautiful natural locations I have ever seen.
My mom went to Banff and Lake Louise several years ago. She said her trip there was the best of all her trips. She has been to Europe about 25 times. Yet she always says Canada is most the most beautiful place she ever went.
We've made Banff and the surrounding sites our vacation getaway five times, and with each visit always feel at home! Love the Banff Springs Hotel and its storied history, the gondola, the shops, the golf course. From Kananaskis, to Lake Louise, to Jasper, and even over to Vancouver, Canada is the most gorgeous location on the planet!
I live in this region, and although I am the first to say there are many, many, beauty spots on planet earth, the constant voting for this region by our visitors as one of the best in the World is very gratifying, especially since that until recently Western Canada was an unknown place for most people. There are countless hidden treasures off the main highways on side roads and if one has the adventurous spirit and physical ability, off the side roads on trails. Many places known to locals rarely make it onto these travel videos, one of many examples being 150 km / 90 mile long Kootenay Lake, the largest natural lake in the Rocky Mountain / Columbia Mountain region and surrounded by high steep mountains, quaint ex-mining towns, evergreen forests and lots of wildlife. Quiet narrow highways wind along the lakeshore, good but narrow gravel roads lead to forest-fire lookouts high above the lake, and a well-developed hot spring at Ainsworth is on the lakeshore. The town of Nelson, located on the lake, has many art galleries, eclectic restaurants, and numerous historic buildings, and a free government ferry boat transports people and vehicles across the lake many times a day.
Just came back from Banff and Lake Louise yesterday for August long weekend 2020. I never get tired of how beautiful this part of the world is even though I am pretty local, living in Edmonton. I never take for granted that the mountains are so close and every time I visit I make the most of it and try to be a good steward of the environment. I hope all of you watching get to visit at one point or another in your lives.
Banff and the surrounding area are breathtakingly beautiful. I had the privilege of hiking all over the area for 5 days, and it is magnificent. Pictures and videos don't do it justice.
I HIGHLY recommend visiting to everyone that can!! My partner and I were lucky enough to vacation here and it was one of the best weeks of my life!! The mountains and streams and all of the hiking trails are just breathtaking and there is nothing better after a long day of exploring and hiking than to finish things off by relaxing in one of the natural hot springs. We definitely plan to go back soon and visit as many times as we can!! A piece of my heart will always belong to Banff and the surrounding areas in Alberta Canada!! ❤️👍🏽🇨🇦

One of the best vacations you can take. Beautiful views, nature at it's best, hiking trails, good restaurants and nice people. July is the best month. The other 11 months they call winter.

Lived out there for 2 years , loved it . Used to ski every Friday Dec - May at Lake Louis and Sunshine Village. Got to watch a big horned sheep totally demolish the front grill and bumper of a Buick it had taken dislike to on the road into Sunshine village.

Back in 1971, I was one of the "dirty hippies" who spent the summer in a campground on the outskirts of Banff called Echo Creek. Despite the disparaging stories local newspapers told, it was a clean, safe, and happy communal gathering. Best summer, ever!
I was there this summer. Ultra crowded like ant hill. Pure smoke, couldn't see the mountains in front of our face. Left early. I believe that Banff must be a nice place though.
Wow!... I've been in Vancouver ( awesome) but didn't get the chance to visit this Beautiful City... Hopefully soon! Canadians are so friendly!.. Great Video..
Absolutely love Lake Louise. Went there a few times when I use to live in Calgary. Also went to Banff a couple of times too. It was weird walking around the Xmas shop during the summer. Lol
Loved this video. I’ve watched a bunch of them and this is the first one that really had what I was looking for. Great overview, info & photography !!!
Not to "one up" the creator of this GREAT video because they nailed it with some of the great places and attractions around here. But here is my view of a way to spend time in this region. I am from Calgary and have travelled every highway in Alberta/BC. So Im referring to a road trip after enjoying all things mentioned in the video. Im also not mentioning the great places in Alberta because when you are on your way to Banff, you are essentially heading to British Columbia. So... Calgary to Banff/Lake Louise, then take the Banff'Jasper highway to Jasper Alberta. The Columbia Icefields is on this route. From there you can cross over to Valemount BC and see Mount Robson (Canadas highest) From Valemount you take the number 5 to Kamloops. In the morning the highway is almost empty and very scenic. Once in Kamloops if you take the original #1 Trans Canada it is less used, as it is not the direct route to the coast, but the scenery is fantastic! You can see Vancouver if you desire, not to mention Vancouver Island, or once in the town of Hope you can circle back to the Okanagan on highway 3 which takes you over the Hope/Princeton pass. Beautiful! You will come to Keremeos and have the choice of going to Osoyoos or Penticton. You will still end up in Penticton, but the Osoyoos route is recommended. So from Osoyoos along highway 97 through Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon, are the main cities. The Okanagan Valley is stunningly beautiful! Very tourist oriented and can be crowded, but is full of beautiful beaches and resembles California. A chain of lakes from the USA border to Vernon, and even on to the Shushwap. From Vernon you can go to Nakusp which starts you off in the Kootenays. The Monashee pass is a wonderful trip! This region is not as populated, the highways are to dream of, and the people are so friendly it really restores faith in humanity! Don't miss the Nakusp to Kaslo and Nelson trip! A free ferry system takes you across the Arrow and Kootenays lakes from point to point. The Kootenays are criss crossed with highways and there are many routes to see this region. From Nakusp to Nelson...to Creston takes you over the Creston Salmo pass, or the Blueberry Paulson pass then the Kootenay pass. Very high alpine passes that go up and up and up! On to Cranbrook and from there you can take the highway back to the Banff region. You have basically done a figure 8 through some of the most beautiful highways on the planet! You will go from prairie to foothills, to alpine to thick forest, to desert plains, to rain forest, to coastal mountains and back again. BC is so diverse that it changes by the hour as you drive. For instance...coming east to west from the Blueberry Paulson pass, you are in high alpine mountains...you come down through the village of Christina Lake...come around a corner, and BOOM...dry interior hills. It changes so suddenly and most of BC is like this! So if you choose to see our wonderful area of the world, take the valuable information in this video, and if you have time for a road trip...you are in the right place! PS. It is almost frustrating to write this because I keep thinking...Oh I didn't tell them about going the OTHER way...Anarchist pass and the trip from Osoyoos to Grand Forks, and this route and that route. Its endless folks! You could spend an entire summer and not hope see it all. Do I sound like a proud Canadian? You bet I am!
Awesome comment! I'll agree with Mark, if you have the time and wheels, the Rockies, interior BC, and coast mountains have so many great roads and towns along the way. The natural beauty of this part of the world is unmatched. The road trip Mark details can be done in 2-4+ days (2 is rushed, 4 ok, a week is great). Definitely worth it if you can. Thanks Mark. 👍
Youre right. 2 days drive, 4 days to enjoy it more, and a week or 2 to just take the time to stop at every spot you see and soak it up. I didn't want to use your platform to step on your toes. Im glad you took my comment as it was intended. Im a new subscriber BTW Thank you, you do Canada proud!
