This is what I want to do in 2025, road trips with my '99 Honda CRV manual drive... Recently did 150kms daily for 2 months and the car is as strong as a rock! I got the car about 3yrs back now, engine seemed to have been replaced... It has been a service to service drive all through. This car was made a natural camper with full reclining seats to make a complete double bed, throw a portable camping table (boot undercover) and we are ready for an adventure! But this Suswa drive is top on my bucket list....
Only missing info or drawback is using only time and leaving distances eg what is the total distance in km and may kms do you save from using Mai mahiu route
Thank you for giving me the perspective of the road ahead.I drove up to the downhill from Nachu.Great these patches have been done but a few.Kenyans come and use this road and experience the beauty of our country.
I did up to down the escarpment yesterday Xmas day.Tomorrow I'll do upto Suswa.A Ford Raptor can handle the 2 kms if a Vitz can.Good work and thank you very much.
Great work you've done uploading the current update on the state of that road. Promises to be an adventure and a proper reliever on the busy and congested Mai Mahiu Road.
This is a great update. There is a particularly sharp corner on the edge of a cliff that I felt you should have highlighted. How it isn't a black spot yet is a wonder
I have liked and subscribed . Thank you for takinfg your time to prepare this positive content on development projects in Kenya. I acknowledge it is not easy at all.
Before you finish the tarmac there is a right diversion you were to take. It is far much better, smoother and shorter than where you followed. Check at minute 20:44 or 21:28 Not sure which is which. But it's far much better to join the highway
I'm only a few minutes into the video, and I have to say I like your driving, you're keeping as much left as possible, not sitting in the middle of the road as many Kenyans love to do. And I'm also enjoying the 4K 😃 looking forward to seeing if this road is okay to use now, as Mai Mahiu is too much, people have no patience and keep passing on the blind corners, so I'd much rather avoid that stretch, though it has beautiful views.
@ Yes I watched to the end and it’s a lot better than the last videos i watched about it only two untarmaced sections, I’ll definitely go that way next time I’m travelling that direction, assuming it’s not raining. Thanks for making the effort to show us so we don’t have to go blindly.
No sidewalks manze, no drainage. Kenya is a BANDITS ECONOMY. Tenderprenuers have done a shoddy work on that road. When the rains hit back, the sides will suffer erosion in no time and they will bit for another tender for it
That road will be washed off yiote.A road always attracts other investments like fuel stations and restaurants. Why does it feel like scene from BAD TURN.
Glad I came across this channel. I never knew such places existed until someone told kuna mashamba being sold along that road. To be honest at that time the road was pathetic when I went for sight viewing. Thank you. But it's a good place to belong.
It seems like everyone has decided to venture into the wilderness! This road is perfect for TH-camrs seeking adventure, showcasing the typical Kenyan spirit of pushing boundaries and reaching the end of the road. It’s great to see this new route-doesn’t look too bad after all. From what I can see, about 85% of it is in good condition, with only a few sections yet to be patched or tarmacked. The government should expedite its completion to help reduce congestion on the Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret route.
Respect to that Nissan sunny B12 hapo mbele then the remaining section is too small for the government to complete surely it should be done as soon as possible thanks for the update.
The undone 100m segment is because the pipeline cuts across the road at that section. The section is left out for approval before doing heavy machinery on top of it.
Thank you for the update. Seems nothing has been done for a year! I wonder what the government does with all the taxes it collects from vehicle owners?
We have used this route cycling some 2 years ago with MTBs. I wonder why they haven't managed to fix the whole bit so that you can pass there even when it rains and you have a small car? That 2km offroad bit can be a nightmare on a bad day
Thanks for the video. Not that I'm pessimistic but why is it local companies are not able to do the markings on the roads. Not even on a single section. For example the Kenol -Marua highway, they have marked most places and the road is not yet complete
@p.m.ndegwa2359 I don't think so. For example, in this road there's a vast area that is already complete yet no single mark is done. For example the Kenol -Marua highway is not yet complete yet some section are already marked. It is done in sections, they don't have to wait for the all parts to be completed in order to mark. Thats what's they have done the beautiful Kenol -Marua highway
I hate driving 😂. But am to drive somr family membes to Masai Mara in the next three weeks. Am wondering if I can use this road from Thika to avoid traffic
It is always a good idea to have good condition feeder roads connecting to a major highway..however this is not the case..hope the authorities concerned look into this.
I had misgivings about the quality of that road. Unless they keep heavy sand trucks out, it will fall apart quickly (it already is, from the repairs seen on this video)
Maasai's have erected speed bumps for a stretch of about 10kms from Suswa. Terribly bad bumps made using stones and murram. Late in the evening AVOID the road...one can easily be robbed.

The best review ive seen on this route so far

Great work you've done uploading the current update on the state of that road. Promises to be an adventure and a proper reliever on the busy and congested Mai Mahiu Road.
Yes! It's definitely worth a try!
Very informative especially to frequent drivers traversing that part of the world! Many thanks 🙏🏼.
Glad you liked it!
I looove traveling..just subscribed...Good job..I really enjoyed the trip.
Asante sana! Karibu!
Thanks, your first video really did help me escape the usual traffic, especially useful was that you had used a relatively low clearance car
Karibu! Glad it was helpful.
This is a great update. There is a particularly sharp corner on the edge of a cliff that I felt you should have highlighted. How it isn't a black spot yet is a wonder
Yes it is a tricky one. Lazima ukue rada
Excellently articulated with very clear state of the road. Thank you for the update!
Asante Sana! Karibu!

Just checked google maps and I've seen the road you are talking about. Great!
Yes even me someone shown me when I was traveling on 22 and its very short to connect to the tarmac road
Thank you for the directions, well explained used it and was great

Far much better than the crazy escarpment.
Hope they can finish the remaining 2kms. Hon Ledama should continue pushing

I know right!
This is one thing that makes me go........ which road design goes without those BASIC things???
And no road markings or signs at all
That road will be washed off yiote.A road always attracts other investments like fuel stations and restaurants. Why does it feel like scene from BAD TURN.
Thanks bro for the info..I'll definitely try this road to my village in april albeit the rains when I visit Kenya..
Karibu.. Yes indeed you should try it!
Thank you for sharing

the problem is still one cannot avoid gilgil weigh bridge area. what is the work around for that?
Great Vid!
Thanks!
Kazi safi. Google maps ni kama bado haijapata update ya hii route
Thanks. Yes bado haijaekwa Google Maps
Thank you!
Is there a road joining this one from Nachu (on the Thogoto Road), instead of going back to Ngong Town?
I used to do this with my dad.....Miss him!
Pole sana!
Respect to that Nissan sunny B12 hapo mbele then the remaining section is too small for the government to complete surely it should be done as soon as possible thanks for the update.
Wonderful stuff
Asante!
Kindly where does the kibiko road is in Ngong please?
Any sign to show where to join
The undone 100m segment is because the pipeline cuts across the road at that section. The section is left out for approval before doing heavy machinery on top of it.
Aah ok. Didn't know that
It's because they were having a dispute. Pipeline wanted them to do a bridge there and it wasn't in their plans
Gari Safi mkuu🔥
Asante 🔥
That last 2km should be a stage in the Safari rally 😂
I know manze 😅
For the 63 Kilometers from the junction at Narok-Mai Mahiu Road to Ngong Town it took me 1 hour and 13 minutes.
Ah ook

Kenya is indeed so beautiful
Yes it is!
From matasia go straight till u reach the hilly road, and then to kibiku, is it the left turn or right turn? There is a hotel on a mlima
Right turn
That's junction is called kimuka centre not kibiko
Got it!
Nice!
Great excursion my guy
Asante!
Hii ni safi...very convenient
Asante mkuu !
Lovely but kindly add details such as stretch in kms of the sections you are talking about. Thanks
Noted, I'll make sure to add that in future videos!
Nice road manh..
Yes very nice views!
Views ni tamu na hiyo jua🤗🤗
Kabisa. Very nice!
Great review. What's the distance from Ngong town to Suswa? @otenyo
Will plan to use it soon.
Yes you should!
Good work
Thanks for watching!
Awesome 👌
Thanks 🤗
Can you kindly estimate the distance for me from the Kibiko stretch to this point you finished the trip to join the highway @Otenyo Perspectives ?
Approximately 52kms
@otenyo thanks highly appreciated.
Drive your journey...
Yes!
Thank you for showing us this route....its pronounced as " root" not" raut"😂 just a correction on a light note.
Haha thanks. Got it!
Depends where you live or come from i call it a "rout"
They remind us back home
Where were headed to? What if I want to go to Kakamega, Kitale, Eldoret?
I was headed to Narok. For Kakamega and that way, if using this route you will need to go back to Maai Mahiu once you get to the Suswa junction
Thank you for the update. Seems nothing has been done for a year! I wonder what the government does with all the taxes it collects from vehicle owners?
Karibu. Exactly our thoughts!
Man I took that road… god for us all from Ngong to kibiko we have potholes bigger than moon craters
Something should be done!
No wonder hii December ngong was having alot of vehicles na jam kwa wingi
Yes watu waligundua hii njia
I just wonder why it takes such a long time to completely do and finish this link road @Kenha
Budgetary constrains .plus too much steeling ...many projects have been put on hold ....
how many kilometres was it from ngong town to suswa?
Was not keen on the distance. Next time I will provide the info!
31:00 which stretch is that
As you leave the rough road to join the highway. I think it goes to the Suswa power substation. There is a gate at the end
No drainage,no road signs,no milestones...How are roads done these days?
I wonder
We have used this route cycling some 2 years ago with MTBs. I wonder why they haven't managed to fix the whole bit so that you can pass there even when it rains and you have a small car? That 2km offroad bit can be a nightmare on a bad day
Yes for sure. On a rainy day it can be a mess!
Good Job Now we Know!
Karibu!
How many kilometers from Kibiku to the Kibiku junction
Not sure I will have to check
Is the route longer or shorter than the Mai Mahiu route at the point that it joins the main road
Abit longer, but with the unpredictable Maai Mahiu, you can bet on this route!
How far From the junction joining the main road to Suswa town
Like 5 minutes
Is there road signage indicating the road at the junction of Suswa to Ngong road?
Unfortunately nope
@@otenyo Do you know how many km it is past the Railway overpass before turning towards Ngong? Goog le doesn't want to show the route.
How many kms are un motorable?
Around 2 kms
What camera are you using my guy??
DJI OSMO POCKET 3 and Action 5
Hii next yr 2025 Ruto ataimaliza😂😂😂😂

I hate driving 😂. But am to drive somr family membes to Masai Mara in the next three weeks. Am wondering if I can use this road from Thika to avoid traffic
If you are coming from Thika, maybe the usual Maai Mahiu route should be ok. The traffic wouldn't be as bad as the holiday season
@otenyo Thanks for the advice.

@@tonyluseno2673 Yes hopefully they give it priority!

True! They need to be careful with that road.
How does one explain that last bit of non-existent road?? It's really negligence
Hatuelewi kabisa!
I used the road...and its good..just some section...ngong town has a section full of potholes
Yes!
I hear they are yet to come to that. Now there is like three parts remaining. Closer to Ngong', Pipeline, and a section closer to Suswa.
At 6:45 is where i live. Nice place
Great! Nyinyi ni wale mlikuwa rada mapema

DJI OSMO POCKET 3 & Action 5
I dont understand why they made sucha a narrow road
Someone needs to explain this to all of us 😅
good work for showing us the state of the road. But unless otherwise, motorist should not use this road.
Asante! In good weather it is manageable though!
Now in Year 2025, consider doing documentaries of all major roads in the 47 counties.
Nice idea. I will consider it. Thanks!
You have taken a year Sir .
Last one kuna a vehicle yenye ilikuchenga sana.
Haha yeah I know, that's why this is an update.
Imagine if this road was well marked, I hate unmarked road especially at night
As a Ngong resident from forever. The current state of Kibiko road is shameful.
The Kajiado county government should be shamed of themselves.
They need to act now!
Maasai's have erected speed bumps for a stretch of about 10kms from Suswa. Terribly bad bumps made using stones and murram.
Late in the evening AVOID the road...one can easily be robbed.
I agree. The speed bumps are a menace!
KRC should get RO-RO Car and Truck wagons for peak traffic holidays, school holidays that way they decongest the highways
Wafanye kitu wasaidie
Its actually called Maai Mahiu not Mayu Mayu....
Mayu Mayu is easier 😅
Why does the road just end in the middle of nowhere? It seems so tandom and the rest of it is not even graded what is happening
Exactly our questions!
I don’t think this road has been worked on in two years. Looks exactly how I saw it in 2022
I know right..They're taking their sweet time
In the middle of nowhere 😢
Very shoddy job done on that road!
I know. But atleast it is passable as an alternative
3km or so isn't complete but it is motorable. So many dangerous corners and unprofessional bumps.
