A useful tip when tying these knots to the mooring line - tie it away from the loop end so when the rope is on the bollard and tension is on, the messenger line is not jammed between mooring line and bollard.
It happened several times in my career, the linesman will put loop on bollard and leave the messenger lines until the end, they are usually then stuck and we had to slack lines for them to release...not very efficient and poor seamanship.
Make sure the linesman are dipping your lines when you use two lines on the same bollard, it will make life much easier when wanting to leave the port, or to change lines over during your stay in port.
    Safe seas, God bless.
