- Phew there are many reasons you should NOT buy a boat.
First of all, the water is uncontrollable, things break, it's hot and sweaty, things break, bugs are always biting you, it's hard to get food and water on board, and oh... did we mention, things break.
So why did we buy a boat?
We chose to live on a boat because one tiny seed was planted 5 years ago when visited Honduras. You never know when or where seeds for your future will be planted and what dreams you may have.

Great message there! I agree with you wholeheartedly! Living on a boat is HARD!!! But I know you'll never regret having spent this time together and all the adventure you've had. I wish you the best in the year to come. We don't know what we're going to do either. It's still totally up in the air.
Many blessings,
Betsy and crew

Enjoyed. Just showed my hubby your tour of the boat video.. ours us only 23ft. Hoping one day to move up
Thank you for watching! We had a 28 foot cabin cruiser in TX. We dreamed of living aboard for years before we did it. Thank you again.
what is your long term plans as the boys get bigger and how do you handle that financially? not sure how you funds are or how you afford your living.
New to the channel. Wife and I sold the house. We’re looking to become full time cruisers. We’re living in a rental until we find our boat. Did you pursue a powerboat school…get a six pack (even though not really needed). I’m a mechanical person but have so much to learn before we step onboard. We want to operate our boat ourselves but don’t want to the marina idiot. We have about a year before moving on board. What can/should I be doing now to set me up for success?
Congrats on step 1. If you need more info Chris does offer consulting and boat brokerage. The best place to learn is truly hands on. We did get captains licensed, and that was helpful, but until we were in the situations needed, it was just on paper. You'll do great!
Great statement, enjoy the journey and learn along the way. Hope all is going well in your part of the world? Do you ever truly get adjusted to living on a boat? Stay safe! Until our adventures cross.....
That's a great question. I think we are pretty well adjusted. We miss some of the conveniences of a house..... dish washer....
Thank you for watching!
Do not forget the book thornless path to windward passages south.it has the polts to and alot of good imformation about every island including navigation the islands
We are actually reading that now. It's a great read. Thank you for that recommendation.
Wow. How crazy is this?. I went to Roatan about 7 years ago and decided I wanted to buy a house there. I was married at the time, but that came to an end just 2 years ago. I am about to buy my 3rd boat ( I do not currently own one ) and move down to the keys to live aboard. My son is 12 so my long term plans are to get my captains lic. Save money and when he is 18 travel around the Caribbean. All sparked by the cruising life. Too bad you dont get more time at ports on cruises. But soon, I'll have all the time i want. Thanks for the video.
True that.
Thanks
You are not going to regret doing this. My only cruising regret, was that we didn’t do it earlier, and younger, when our kids were your kids ages.
Living on a boat has to be a fantastic adventure for a pack of young boys.
Good work guys. Seriously
Thanks for watching! Make sure and keep up with the journey every Friday at 8am! This weeks episode was a scary day.
What make and year is that boat? Thanks!

It doesn't matter where you live and what you do, not every single day in life can be another day in paradise! There will be good days and bad days. If I had the choice, I would chose to be on a nice boat somewhere in the Mediterranean or Caribbean, miserable or not, over what I’m doing now, which is working at home from my tiny shed-office in my tiny garden with a view of a garden fence, in the cold and rainy North of England! Then again, my life is probably somebody else’s dream life, because I have a job, I have a shed, a garden and a house! Everything is relative in life and I think the trick is to enjoy it and improve it as much as you can! Hence, I put lots of hanging baskets in the garden, so I don’t see the ugly fence anymore! You’re a lovely family and may calm seas and bright sunshine define the rest of your voyage.
That's such a great perspective. Your place does sound lovely, but yes, no matter where we are there will be days we don't enjoy.
I'm sure you been asked 1,000 times...what kind of boat/brand /type/size do you have? Also, do you have/want a Seakeeper? Keeping you and your family in prayer for safety and enjoyment on your voages!!
Hey! We do get asked a lot, and that's great. We have a 1987 Marine Trader Tradewinds 47. 3 state room, 2 heads. We do not have a sea keeper, would love one if it was donated, unfortunatly they are more expensive than our boat is worth. Check out this tour for more boat stuff. th-cam.com/video/HpGkqS3-egg/w-d-xo.html
I'm enjoying the journey! I liked that you were out cruising out in the water.
Us too! Thank you
Interesting video. Are you all retired and financially secure to be able to have a young family and boat all over the Caribbean? Just curious how this works.....
Unfortunately we are not retired or independently wealthy. We actually posted a video answering this exact question we get. th-cam.com/video/boKZzxRQTvc/w-d-xo.html
