Not only do I feel this, I made George (named for my actual cat) a healer and he ended up with all of the healing skills except the bubbles, he instead got the boomerang that counts for pilfering. I couldn't ask for a better support cat for how I hunt
The healing bat from the new secret skills is absolutely insane. The healing off that thing is massive and lasts for a long time. Basically makes you immune to anything but oneshots while its active.
For the palamute, The skills Counter and Ko King, combined with the Parasol Gear and a blunt weapon (I use pukei) is pretty good, especially if you have a bludgeoning attack as well.
The new silkbind bow is mildly useful too. I think knockouts tend to come fairly often from the fact the best sleep weapon is a blunt weapon, but the silkbind launcher only rarely happens in my experience so it’s mostly just because it looks cool.
For some reason Knockout King is not good, because it doesn't significantly increase damage for KO is the same a Status up and attack up is a weak.. critical up is the best choice for deal more damage, with a Blitz Scroll palamute become a Dual blade dog haha
I always have 2 gather palicos with me since they essentially give enough materials to act like 2 hunts in one, so now being able to give them stuff from healer and assist cat is massive.
I keep my Pilfer Palico on me at all times. It has netted me so many mantles and such over my very many hunts. Those little extra drops add up fast man.
I would pay money for a "Prowler mode" DLC. That was one of my favorite things in Generations. Especially considering all of the new abilities that they have.
I get the feeling Palicoes got a massive buff in Sunbreak. Before Sunbreak I was lucky if my healer Palico used the horn even once. Now he easily uses 2-3 per fight, as well as planting more healing trees (and not planting them right as the monster is about to escape). Also, the Lottery Box is kinda ridiculous. Most of the time you get the Kittenator which deals nice damage, but most importantly knocks monsters to the ground every single time.
I recommend using support-centric for palicos and palamute gear that doesn't need attack for their skills to work. Highly recommend using support-centric for gatherer to plunderblade another time in a typical hunt to gain scrap for equipment/layered armor.
Eurekacorn are really easy to farm from the rewards for the support quests on hunts. Example: Apply status effects 5 times, collect ore, or collect honey will often times give you one. I see them quite often and are very helpful and easy to get it this way.
THANKYOU for speaking about the bug, I honestly sat for about 10 minutes questioning why I spent so much time levelling up a certain palicoe when it’s abilities absolutely sucked!! I am now at the point where it doesn’t matter but I hope people see this before investing time into making the perfect one ✌️💜
the swapping of the support move´s is useless for the people that have the bug, because the move´s reroll every time you are in a loading screen or exit the buddy board (at least it is that way for me)
Yeah, as of right now the only thing that helped was NOT using the Lottery Box or the Felyne Powered-Up. I've stuck with the Healing Clover Bats, cause they are extremely helpful with some of the armor skills that drain your health
I’m still using the original palico and palamute from when I first made my save file, the only reason I’ve ever switched them out is now in sunbreak to complete the quests where you have to do 3 hunts with each type of palico.
You can also occasionally get eurekacorn from the optional sub quests from chichae. Usually they give armor spheres and kamura points but they can also give eurekacorn from time to time so make sure to check
I still have base rise , and I'd saying farming for the right cat really improves hunting experience. Like I farmed for a Collector cat with power drum , go fight go , and thunder bug , and has a status attack up passive. My Palicos are too useful for me to bring Palamutes on online hunts lol . Hearing people I play on DC group praise how good my Palico is always made my day
DAMMIT I KNEW I WASNT CRAZY! I had multiple cats with really good ability/skill sets and they randomized when I took them out recently. This is so validating and frustrating lol.
I didn't knew the support moves being changed was due to the secret support move, that said, it's not only when you equip it, it seems to just randomly change pretty much after almost every quest, it's pretty annoying
If I'm allowed to bring only one, it's my palico all the way. Still, the palamute's new "sniff out" is pretty nice since you can make a beeline to get your green/red spirit birds at the start of a hunt; the extra hp makes MR quests much comfier :3

I spent literally dozens of hours grinding out the palicos to the point I have no room for anymore and each has different classes support skills and then skills, only to be told that lmao all that time was wasted you can just make any palico what you want, glad these options exist because the grind was dumb but also wish I didn’t spend so much time
Meanwhile me who doesnt bring any buddy to multiplayer just to aliviate the cluster fuck that is 4 hunters and 4 buddies getting their hands full on a poor monster
Oml finally someone else who uses shock tripper. People kept saying the trap was better by my Palico would always place a trap in a corner or something 😂
I have my trapper cats, both have shock traps and poison pitfall and as a bonus they have felyne skillbind and health bubble thingy, i also equip them with poison and paralysis. In sunbreak i find that they lay traps much more often moreover they will lay 2 traps or 3 at the same time in the same area! and i have lots of clips to prove that. As another bonus, their skills consist of health up and bunch of negate skills. In my opinion and *experience*, these are the best combination.
Lol I use same palico with those skills. I make sure it had a blunt weapon with sleep or para and status attack+. They are very useful. Unless you are fighting an elder dragon. But still the bubbles and the new hidden healing skill still helps a lot.
And here I was rnging the heck out of it since I've started playing a few days ago xD good to know. For the buddy thing does it count for Palamutes too? I kind of don't want to replace my doggy since I named it after my real dog? :

could anyone elaborate on what was said about skills “not be recoverable” after forgotten? does this mean that the skill can never be taught to the palico again even when using the skill transfer system, or can it be relearned and used as usual? 3:27
Let's say you have 5 cats in your roster and only 1 of them knows "artful dodger." If you replace it, it means you can't teach it to any other cat since no one in your roster knows it now. So you'd have to find and hire another cat who knows the move
Compagnons are the oposite of the player. If you own at the game better having status ones, if your hunts are slogfest, ele builds will do more damage overall and you focus on surviving and trying to setup things(para yourself, traps etc). Palamutes are still big damage compared to palicos, however I can see a point getting 2 mini dragonators.
Unfortunately, the "randomize skills" bug keeps happening to my main palico lol. I have to swap it so often. I don't know why it keeps happening. Just a bit annoying, at least I can fix it - if I notice it got swapped again.
Just a quick question to those who have all three quests. Once you change all three skills does it fix the issue. Because right now every time I do anything budy related and anytime I take my cat on a hunt his skills change. Every time! Even if I change the level 5 one it changes again. Sooo it's useless for me. Once all three quests are done does it stop switching? Otherwise I need the patch XD

Good video to ask this, but does anyone feel like all palicos sniffed a line of coke before sunbreak? Even before I upgraded their status weapons they were pumping out like 6-7 statuses per hunt. Or maybe they got better aim, cuz I see them miss way less status toads
Palicoes are probably overall more useful. They’re our classic tride and true buddies. They have much more support, if you’re skilled with a wirebug you can traverse the map just as fast, and they probably just overall have more of an affect on the hunt as a whole. I was hoping for something like how it was in gu but we got even better because even gu was rng in customizing your palicoes unless you had those rare books Also does support centric only affect the buddy its attached to or does one apply to all your buddies in the hunt
Support Centric is such a dumb skill imo, Felvine litterally does the same thing and the cooldown isn't too bad. But the attack centric skills are definitely must have so that they aren't using their worst offense stat :3 My current Palico Murder Build has two Fighter Palicoes with Ranged Centric, Ranged Attack Up, Attack Up L Critical Up S, and Critical Up L Their three RNG moves are Mega Boomerang, Power Drum (They like to play it one after the other drum effect ends) and Shock Purrison to keep them in place for Felyine Fireworks, to set Felvine, Heal, or to just get some good damage with Mega Boomerang.
You already have the best palico, it's the first one you make. That's the best one.

For the palamute,
The skills Counter and Ko King, combined with the Parasol Gear and a blunt weapon (I use pukei) is pretty good, especially if you have a bludgeoning attack as well.
