I predict the acting winners at the Oscars right now: - Best Actress in a Leading Role: Demi Moore (The Substance) - Best Actor in a Leading Role: Adrian Brody (The Brutalist) - Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) - Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain)
As a Latino I got second hand embarrassment watching Emilia Perez. The movie is absolute abomination. I’m genuinely confused on how can say anything positive about this film
I think with Golden Globe win Demi Moore is the frontrunner now. There are 5 big reasons why I think this is: 1) She just beat her biggest competition, Mikey Madison, in a major precursor. 2) People looked at Madison and thought that she would be the latest breakout star/ingénue to win Best Actress, but if you look at the past decade it's the experienced veterans who are beating the young newcomers. Olivia Colman and Michelle Yeoh may have been first time nominees but they both had decades long resumes when they won. 3) Even better yet there are a lot of recent acting winners who had "redemption" narratives that got them the trophy. Moore's career reflects that of Brendan Fraser, someone who was an A list talent at one point but never considered a prestigious actor until they delivered a renowned performance years after they left the limelight. 4) The Substance is a film about Hollywood and the entertainment industry as a whole. The Academy LOVES that shit. Plus pretty much everyone could relate to her character's struggles, especially the actors. 5) Moore has been working in Hollywood for decades and therefore she likely has a lot of friends in the voting body and a lot of influential people who could advocate for her behind the scenes. As we have seen with the Riseborough incident, this could be crucial to securing a major upset like a performance in a horror movie winning an acting trophy. So yeah, it's no longer wishful thinking, she could win this thing.
Critics Choice is voting now, and she's nominated there while Torres isn't. BAFTA clearly loves the Substance so she could win there. And she is guaranteed a win in SAG. So she has a path to win.
Crazy how Demi just went from a “maybeeee” to “100% she’s oscar material”. What wheighs against her is the susbstance being a horror movie and the academy has a issue with it. I don’t see Torres winning after being left out of the bafta’s long list and critics
I would add another point: she's campaigning HARD for that Oscar. She's is doing the rounds in every major tv show, including online, raising her profile in the process: from First We Feast to late night shows to THR Roundtable Actresses and she always comes across as warm, charismatic and deserving.

You guys have been underestimating Fernanda for months now. I feel vindicated
No they werent, she lost every single prosecuter, golden globes voters arent the same from the oscars, plus gg now has more latino voters thats why she won
It was a mix of Torres missing vital precursors and critics groups as well both brothers not really being high on the movie. They both gave it 3/5 stars on Letterboxd and are lukewarm on it so they were never high on Torres.
I'm sorry, but as a Mexican, watching Emilia Perez felt incredibly offensive. The fact that the director did not even research our culture and made a musical about something that continues to happen in my country is just sad. Yesterday, while watching the Golden Globes, I felt incredibly angry seeing Emilia Perez win so many awards.
Sad that a movie like Emilia Perez (which is a cool idea don't get me wrong) is more likely win over a stunning film like Nickel Boys which seems likely to be snubbed.
Love to see Demi Moore winning and her speech was truly moving. I can see the academy voters seeing her doing the same beautiful speech at the Oscars. I love this win. Adrien winning Globes for the first time is amazing… wow.. I love seeing Zoe winning and reminded me of RDJ .. both came from Marvel and now winning acting awards. Bravo… i cant wait to see RDJ giving Zoe her oscar trophy come Oscars…
The Brutalist seems to be the only movie that has a chance to win at this point. Emilia Perez is not a best picture winner, Conclave is really not, Anora is too indie. The best actress win a tricky one. Marianne Jean-Baptiste honestly seems like a no--brain winner but the movie is too Mike Leigh. Torres' is a very traditional film, high brow but not edgy so she's likely to get a nom. Anora has a passion within the Academy and so are The Brutalist and The Substance.
Sad world we live in when "too Mike Leigh" is a strike *against* a performance's chances of winning awards, considering that designation basically means we're in for, like, all-time top 10 work. (I realize this isn't you slamming the performance and just pointing out a trend btw)
When Demi Moore won tonight, I was anxiously awaiting this video to see your excited reaction and if your cat would freak out and flee the couch as a result. I was correct, and even brought up you guys and the cat at my viewing party. I hope Demi rides this to SAG and ultimately an Oscar win. Critic's choice could go a lot of different directions, but Demi has the Hollywood narrative for SAG & maybe Oscar. Her speech definitely increased her chances for future awards.
100% but I understand that since they gave screenplay to Conclave, Director to Brutalist and actress to Moore which I think are all deserved, they would have to give Anora only a win for Best comedy, that would be strange. But I still wish it happened.
Demi more winning is the big, feel-good moment of the night. She had the best speech, and people know and are passionate about the movie. With demi and fernanda winning, making the best actress cut will be very very interesting.
Demi Moore has the leading lady star status, the buzziest film, the baitiest role, the transformative performance, and the actressing scene of the year. She has the comeback narrative, the same “the industry never took me seriously or gave me opportunities like this” angle as Fraser and Yeoh, the same “she's so brave for doing this” narrative as Yeoh and Stone, and one of the three most acclaimed performances in her category. She has every advantage in this race, and nothing against her.
Thrilled for Torres and Moore. Moore's speech will have gone down very well. Plus I watched that actress roundtable at the weekend and the way both the older and younger actresses had connected to The Substance made me think she's likely getting more support than say Madison. Glad I put my small bet on Moore on Friday before last night's win.
It was always Demi. Always. The others never made sense to me. Mikey isn't as known or popular as Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence were at the time of their wins. Those 2 were huge and in big franchise movies. Mikey is just starting out. Demi gave the speech of the night.
@@Haldered at this stage anora IS the underdog in industry's eyes I think. so there's still a possibility it rebounds with a win for Critics Choice and possibly PGA. These two alone (and a likely sag nomination) will be enough

A Mexican giving his input regarding what you guys said at 18:52, this isn't a "midlle finger to the Trump movie" and it isn't a movie about "Mexican people". Emilia Peréz is a disgrace to us Mexican people, it is a cartoonish, banal and cliché representation of our country, it is filled with cartoonish characters that are not mexican and it is just a terrible movie. While not Mexican, the story was laughable at best. So you telling me as a cartel member killed hundreds, yet after the transition, none of the bodies or families members coming forward were because of her doing. Icing on the cake was making her a saint at the end. Trash film.
I'm not begrudging anyone who's writing off Anora at this point, I totally get it - but I also think there's JUST enough potential that we're overestimating how much the Globes' tastes overlap with the industry's, and/or underestimating the chances that Anora does well with the guilds, that I'm still probably going to wait until after Critics Choice to decide whether to bump it - and Mikey Madison - out of the top slot

@@popemchenry Yes, you're very right. It's about giving a platform to Russian actors staying silent amidst war while also living their best life in Putin's Russia by starring in propaganda films. What a great movie. Sean Baker is truly a genius.
@@insenkiv4619 the movie is about the class war, the inhumanization of the workers, but it's ok if you just go with that hollow take
@@stefanoduran4 very ironic, arrogant, cruel, and ignorant use of the term class war. Real wars and real people's murder are not enough of a "real take" for you. Maybe you should reexamine the ethical priorities of your life.
I predict the acting winners at the Oscars right now:
- Best Actress in a Leading Role: Demi Moore (The Substance)
- Best Actor in a Leading Role: Adrian Brody (The Brutalist)
- Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez)
- Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain)
As a Latino I got second hand embarrassment watching Emilia Perez. The movie is absolute abomination. I’m genuinely confused on how can say anything positive about this film
To each their own, I liked the movie
Ngl, I'm pretty devastated at Mikey Madison's loss. Easily the performance of the year for me, and I really thought she had it.
Im just LOVING all of the love that Demi is getting for her globe win. Its amazing and she deserved it
Demi Moore speech & win is just so very powerful!
I think with Golden Globe win Demi Moore is the frontrunner now. There are 5 big reasons why I think this is:
1) She just beat her biggest competition, Mikey Madison, in a major precursor.
Shes winning
I would add another point: she's campaigning HARD for that Oscar. She's is doing the rounds in every major tv show, including online, raising her profile in the process: from First We Feast to late night shows to THR Roundtable Actresses and she always comes across as warm, charismatic and deserving.
You guys have been underestimating Fernanda for months now. I feel vindicated
RIGHT ?!?
No they werent, she lost every single prosecuter, golden globes voters arent the same from the oscars, plus gg now has more latino voters thats why she won
It was a mix of Torres missing vital precursors and critics groups as well both brothers not really being high on the movie. They both gave it 3/5 stars on Letterboxd and are lukewarm on it so they were never high on Torres.
They’re so out of touch. Anyone who elevates Emilia Perez is a moron.
Mikey Madison is Timothee Chalamet for CMBYN...
Anora can win if it takes Critics. Choice and PGA… Bonus points for getting into SAG
Sad world we live in when "too Mike Leigh" is a strike *against* a performance's chances of winning awards, considering that designation basically means we're in for, like, all-time top 10 work.
(I realize this isn't you slamming the performance and just pointing out a trend btw)
While I was watching this awards, I could hear you guys screaming " NOOOOOO" 😅😂
When Demi Moore won tonight, I was anxiously awaiting this video to see your excited reaction and if your cat would freak out and flee the couch as a result. I was correct, and even brought up you guys and the cat at my viewing party. I hope Demi rides this to SAG and ultimately an Oscar win. Critic's choice could go a lot of different directions, but Demi has the Hollywood narrative for SAG & maybe Oscar. Her speech definitely increased her chances for future awards.
I knew that would go crazy.😂😂😂Demi is my prediction since I first watch the Substance.
When Demi Moore won I knew the Oscar Expert’s cat was gonna be running from the couch.
Every time Anora missed, I thought “I can’t wait to hear what the boys think about this”
You guys are hilarious 😂 Your enthusiasm is contagious
Fernanda Torres is coming for her oscar nomination
Unlikely
Just because they win the globe doesn’t mean they will win the Oscar! I’m rooting for Chalamet and Moore for the leading Oscar categories.
Such dapper gentleman with those ties.
Bravo gentlemen!
(CONGRATS DEMI!!!)
Best motion picture comedy/ musical should have been given to Anora
Agree
@@wijaksono1730x2
100% but I understand that since they gave screenplay to Conclave, Director to Brutalist and actress to Moore which I think are all deserved, they would have to give Anora only a win for Best comedy, that would be strange. But I still wish it happened.
Gosh I love your reactions so much. Made my day
Demi more winning is the big, feel-good moment of the night.
Fernanda is an icon, she's a legend, and she is the moment
I want this season to end with Demi winning the Oscar
Thrilled for Torres and Moore. Moore's speech will have gone down very well. Plus I watched that actress roundtable at the weekend and the way both the older and younger actresses had connected to The Substance made me think she's likely getting more support than say Madison. Glad I put my small bet on Moore on Friday before last night's win.
The sighs when Emilia Perez won 🤣
It says a lot when both the brothers are positive about the movie but didn’t want it to win Picture 😭
Those Globes were so chaotic, I have no idea what to make of the wins.
I genuinely don't think too much credence can be put on the new Globes.
The Fernanda Torres moment was magical
It was always Demi. Always. The others never made sense to me. Mikey isn't as known or popular as Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence were at the time of their wins. Those 2 were huge and in big franchise movies. Mikey is just starting out. Demi gave the speech of the night.
Anora is winning original sreenplay for Baker and most voters will feel it's enough.
The rationalization after getting stuff wrong and the “I knew that might happen” moments are always my favorite parts
Anora could’ve pulled a Moonlight with a sole picture win but couldn’t even do that
Moonlight actually won supporting actor too
@@傳弘 not at the Globes. It won Picture, Screenplay, Supporting Actor at the Oscars.
spotlight/coda didnt win anything at the globes soooo
@@kidwithaphonecamera yeah but Coda was an underdog, Anora has been the frontrunner so far
@@Haldered at this stage anora IS the underdog in industry's eyes I think. so there's still a possibility it rebounds with a win for Critics Choice and possibly PGA. These two alone (and a likely sag nomination) will be enough
Anora is my favorite movie in years, but I will take solace in the fact that it won the Palme d'Or which means way more than winning a globe
I am weirdly very proud of the fact that I predicted Sebastian Stan
I haven't seen A Different Man yet. Do you think he'll get the nod for the Oscar now?
@@naturistfred dude I haven’t seen it either I predicted him purely off the double nomination
His performance was clearly the best in the category. And he also had another great performance and was double nominated. It's insane that people were not predicting him.

I've been waiting for this video
Thirsty for The Twins eh? 😂😂

Why are people freaking out over GG winners? These are journalists' picks. There's no crossover in terms of voters from SAG, Oscars, BAFTA, etc .
Not believing in Anora from the beginning will be my "I told you so" from this season
10:23 I still dont get how this award works. The winner is decided based on what exactly ? Im wondering because Wicked didnt even make the most amount of money from the movies listed.
Oh, there’s no way your cat is surviving the Demi Moore win 😂
People really thought Mikey was the next Jennifer lawrence😂
Jennifer Lawrence had a previous nomination before she won and was in two movie Franchises
Who thought that?! This the first time I am hearing this. If at all she would be Brie Larson who won Best Actress on first nomination and so young
Don’t over think it folks! This is just the Golden Globe.
I couldn't wait for your reactions. You two never, ever disappoint!
I think The Substance might win the original screenplay category over Anora
No way! Anora is winning 1 award and that's it
The Substance is more original than Anora.
@@khorkina2010 For acting yes, but for writing no
I was so waiting for this.
Looks like Kieran Culkin has the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor locked up.
Until you get to BAFTA, remember Ke Huy Quan losing to Barry Keoghan? That may be a possibility again.

Mikey Madison should have won for Anora
Tough category. Mikey, Fernando and Demi will be neck and neck. But something tells me they will give it to Fernando at the Oscars.
Nah, the voters are not into her.
@@khorkina2010 i agree the buzz for her after this will fade pretty quickly i think its Demi Moore's year.
How about the speeches? you guys don't talk about it much, but I heard lots of pundits today say that demi Moore's speech was her ticket to the oscars, and Broady and Saldaña were audiotining for their oscars wins too.
Unfortunately Mikey has done little to zero campaigning and the "young and not well known" actress label doesnt get her anywhere
Demi Moore is doing the rounds and Mikey is nowhere to be found...
BRO, here in Mexico and surprisingly throughout LatinAmerica, we HATE Emilia Pérez
More like unsurprisingly* seeing as how conservative the Latin American community tends to be.

FERNANDA AND DEMI ARE THE MOMENT
A Mexican giving his input regarding what you guys said at 18:52, this isn't a "midlle finger to the Trump movie" and it isn't a movie about "Mexican people". Emilia Peréz is a disgrace to us Mexican people, it is a cartoonish, banal and cliché representation of our country, it is filled with cartoonish characters that are not mexican and it is just a terrible movie. Ni input and investigation was put whatsoever by Audiard and he demonstrated his ignorance towards Mexico, the problem with drug trafficking and Mexican people.
While not Mexican, the story was laughable at best. So you telling me as a cartel member killed hundreds, yet after the transition, none of the bodies or families members coming forward were because of her doing. Icing on the cake was making her a saint at the end. Trash film.
Don't worry. They won't win the other awards bodies.

Nope, Honey, you are overestimating Anora from the start, it has no message, it is not winning.
