The USA went down hill for a time. Because the older players forgot that winning gave them their power. There agendas overpowered the game and they lost the will to give it their all. Carly Lloyd Said the team had become toxic. Emma has returned, refocused, the team’s true power source, that’s winning.

Ridiculous take. They won the 2019 World Cup while in the middle of their greatest cultural stands including their equal pay battle against US Soccer. The team had terrible coaching for a four year cycle, it happens. As for Carly Lloyd, she was an amazing player, no doubt, but she was a freelancer, a bit of a loner, you never got the vibe she ever bonded with the team…AND it shows now in her post-retirement tv career. She’s a bit too quick to criticize and put down the old team culture. Never mind that you’re likely referring to your personal thoughts on Rapinoe - who was a beloved teammate and leader of the team for over a decade, and also an insanely talented and clutch player on the field.

@@Edwardianschool Agreed. It really is just as simple as the Golden Generation got old and Andonovski wasn't sufficiently coldblooded in remaking the roster.

@@stvmendez Exactly! I might have to borrow your more concise answer for answering these subtle-haters in the future. 👍😅

@@EdwardianschoolOh, I agree with you about Carli. When she was the only one in the spotlight, everything was cool (2015), but when someone else became the team’s savior (2019), she started to change. She also didn’t start in France, and she wasn’t handling it the way she should have.
