This movie came out the summer before I moved away from my lifelong home for college. My new friend and I had the best months of our lives that summer. We literally spent almost every day together doing whatever and exploring under the warm summertime skies, just as Luca and Alberto did. The crazy thing is, we watched this movie the night before I moved away. Having never seen it before, it was bittersweet to realize the parallels between our lives and the lives of the characters in Luca. It was as if I was Luca on the train waving goodbye to my friend and the only place I ever knew---leaving it all behind to go to school. With the busyness of college, I've since fallen out of touch with that friend, but everytime I watch this scene or hear this song in the soundtrack, I always think of her and how hard it was to say goodbye after such an amazing summer. This is such a simple movie, but it is so special to me because of how deeply the storyline resonates with me. I love this song---it reminds me of times I wish I could go back to. ♡
And seeing Luca's little tear stream down his little cheek as he looks back at his best friend. Love this movie. I can watch it, no joke, evwryday with my daughter..lol its just so cute and the story is awesome.

Not only is the music itself sometimes outstanding, but, in this case, when a similar theme is played several times throughout a movie, it can truly show you the growth of the characters by reminding you of the moments in the movie associated with that music, making the movie and the music that much more beautiful. As if Pixar didn't pump out good enough movies, but they had to add an astonishing soundtrack to this one. To put it simply, oh god, this is a great soundtrack.

I put this song on a playlist, for when i got my acceptance/rejection letter from my dream school. It was an animation school, but... Today I got back my score of 70% on my portfolio, and I needed a 95% to get in. I guess I won't find out, for now. I'm going to go study dental hygiene at another regular college. Forgive me- I'm emotion right now. But it would've been so nice to find out all about what artsy friends I would make, the people I would meet, what stories I would write, the art I would make. Ugh... But it's okay. I'll keep drawing. I can still find out about all those things, it's just gonna be different. Harder.
