I've been having a tough time lately with my art. I was happy with my art, making myself proud with my pieces.
That was until one day someone commented saying that it was bad and I should try harder, study anatomy, because you're already making yourself look bad etc.
It really drained my self confidence and motivation to draw and I really felt like giving up.
I was in constant fear of being judged with every drawing I make, regardless of if I spent 5+ hours on it or not-
I've been drawing for 4 years now so I didn't want to give up-
Thanks for this, I feel a little more motivated to draw now.

Anyone have tips with colored realism? I keep trying and I keep failing. I don't know why grays/greys I can do with regular pencil but color gets me for some reason. Are prisms colored pencils good for this? Would it be worth buying the very huge pack of them? Thanks 😊 Awesome video also, it made my day and made me even more inspired and passionate about drawing human faces.
I just started colored realism (I've done paintings before, but not w colored pencils), you don't need the biggest prismacolors pack, I think the 72 pack is great for any drawing. In general, the most important things in colored pencils are the proportions (but if you do it w regular pencils then I'm sure you're good w proportions), and choosing the right colors, you sometimes need to layer a couple of colors to get the tone you need (mostly in skin colors), I recommend using the "colored pencils picker" app, you upload a pic and put the pointer on the color you need, and it tells you what pencils you need to use.

2:01 does someone know how can you make that kind of reference
If you are a beginner, you can def put a piece of paper over the referece and trace the outlines and big shadows. If you already know how to sketch a face I'd reccomend using the grid method, basically you put a grid over the reference (in your phone or on a printed pic) and then draw a similar grid on a piece of paper and try to copy the reference square by square (if that makes sense XD)
