It's nice to see a great crew doing a great job for a boss who respects their hard work. I retired from these kinds of projects in SOCAL a few years back . This video makes me miss the work, my guys and the satisfaction one feels at the end of a successfully completed job. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
I love working with my hands and legs (know what I mean?), but I became disabled in 2003. Every time I see these hard working men, they have my respects.
When i saw how sloppy the winch was spooled the crane rigger in me winced lol but it beats the hell out of packing those buckets. A guy should put some sort of cage infront of the guy running the winch incase the line parts its gonna hit that guy right in the teeth
The conditions you and your crew work in are horrific and I applaud all of you guys ! Beautiful work in the worst of conditions, thumbs up big time !!!
August concrete work is not for pussies.. dont comment if you have never done it.. if your boss treats you with respect the work is just that work. The men get it done
Great job on a tough project! Love the winch. Just a small tip when you pour the footings next time keep all of them level with stepped increments. The one on a slope creates too many angle cuts. (Mason for 12 plus years)
In the space they had to work, sometimes its easier for the guys to build "footings" on a slope, it's less time consuming imo, cutting blocks for that rake is way easier than building steeped footings...Blocky and bricky for over 25 years, can build footings too.
I saw the finished product and it was some of the best concrete work I have seen in my life. This was not an easy job and you knocked it out of the park.
I'm on the East Coast, never been to the West side, but after watching this, I feel very safe saying you're the best period! Coast to Coast & everything in between, your team's attention to detail is incredible & extremely impressive. I'd hire your crew without hesitation if I had the need & was in your service area. Well done!
Every man, regardless of his strength should be made to do manual labor for one year. Too many men today grow to adulthood without ever wielding a pick, running a jackhammer, or shoveling ten hours a day. It builds character and makes you realize that what you do for a living doesn’t define a man.
Very glad to hear you recognizing your guy’s hard work very important. Great crew and excellent work, so much tougher and more involved when you can’t use heavy equipment!
72 year old lady watching from Montana. Why? I find it interesting. My conclusion? I think concrete work has to be the most physically demanding of the trades. Kudos to all your tradesmen. Keep Safe. And, thanks for posting.
I lived in Laguna for many years and did foundations and framing there . Fun to see some video of it and really great to see such a hard working, talented crew. My hats off to you sir, you are a pro.
It's hard, if not impossible, for anyone who has never done this type of work to imagine just how brutally hard every aspect of this is. Just the logistics of this job adds an another dimension, that skid, trolley & winch system for moving material & all that manual digging & moving dirt in 5 gallon buckets, oh please! That narrow, hilly street that requires cement trucks to back up & short tempered neighbors. And keep in mind each one of those 8X8X16 block weighs about 27 pounds. Bet those guys sleep good.
It's my day off from being a Plumber lol, and I'm watching these guys build a brick wall, mad Respect to all these workers , you guys are some beast and very efficient workers🛠 much Respect from Arizona 🙏🏽👊🏽
Nice job. Excellent use of proper sized steel reinforcing bar work. Yes on the horizontal bars too. I am surprised that the engineer didn't call for piers in the footing though. Still heller strong the way you have put it together though. I'm guessing that with the steel sticking up through the top of the retaining wall that the wall continues up to create a fence.
6 pallets, those are bon beam & normal 8-8-16s, that's 90 to a pallet, 90×6 is 540, but I also saw the 4-8-16s which are like 150 per pallet.. Point is, I am glad I am the dude on the forklift who loads the truck, and not the dude who unloads it all. Respect, and beautiful work.
THIS! Is The work of an experienced contractor. coming from an experienced heavy civil engineer operator who has seen many large foundations. The access was probably just as hard as where it was located. if only some landscapers could look at this from TH-cam and take example.
My hats off to a very hard working company, the boys definitely earned a coldy after work. When this virus is under control, i'll have a lot more knowledge on concrete thanks to these vids. Keep them pumping.
Jack hammer shovel...where were you in my early twenties digging through hard clay soil as a ditch digger. I was dark a coffee bean and skinny as a bean pod. Strong as an Ox. Hands hard like a turtle shell. Oh man... sometimes i miss those days as an Old man now.

Any job is a good job and more so if we do hit a great recession or depression as money from the majority will sit longer as people will decide to save for safe purposes and that goes for commercial as well. You might be surprised but I work for a very large hospital organization (180 hospitals also in Cali) the financial impact is big, all Capitol is currently frozen unless the project has already started. Times could become interesting so small or large and even unwanted jobs make money. Besides that nice wall and hard location indeed, finished product amazing once again.
