For the artist, The inspiration and passion are all that they got in order to go on producing various Arts... And here they(BANGTAN) are relating PRODUCING MUSIC as their passion and if they sometimes no longer find any inspiration to continue their work with, they get scared.... Which brings out the inner fear that seems so real & cruel like Death!! So, It's basically the complicated and terrifying emotions they feel when they don't find any WAY to continue their production....
I'm really surprised no one is mentioning the Darren Aronofsky film Black Swan which likely inspired this; which is about an obsessed artist. The actual ballet is Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake which is about a woman cursed to be a swan.

confession: this song is huge important thing for me, since i can't get over it from the day it came out. not only because i find black swan itself as masterpiece, but also because reminded me of dreams and goals i have, but was unable to achieve them because of depression and feeling numb in heart day by day. black swan is sad, but somehow when i listen to it i feel like i'm not lost yet and i still keep fighting for living. for sure it helps and it's with me when sometimes everything gets worse. i'm not a bts stan at all, but they for sure were a part of saving one soul here and i'm thankful for that.
