Hi you could add floating plants to get ammonia levels down

I have tried floating plants but my catfish eat them. Any other ideas would help.

Put the plants in big clay pots

I have thought about that but I’m thinking that the big catfish do get skittish so they could break the pots. I will try after I try making a barrier for sand to stay in place.
