Kimi's Portugal lap was like me playing an F1 game on easy with all assists, and not bothering qualifying because I know I can be in P1 by the end of the 1st lap.
Occasionally Kimi pushes that Alfa to do things it shouldn't be able to do and remind us all he's a world champion. That opening stage at Portugal was insane.

On that last part: TL;DR the rear part of the pack started racing before the front part did, and confusion ensued. I'm new to F1 and was wondering what on earth was going with that last replay, and I found a more complete replay and brief explanation by looking up "F1 2020 Tuscanny". What happened was this was after the race 're-started' as they crossed the starting line, so there are green flashing things up ahead that say GO GO GO basically. But those are on for the people in front ONCE THEY CROSS THE LINE. You aren't supposed to start racing (and passing) until you get past the starting line. Because of this, the front of the pack _should_ start racing first, but _some_ of the middle and back of the pack started as soon as they saw the green light, and not when they passed the starting line. Key word being *some*.
This is oversimplifying things, since in fact normally everyone starts racing at the same time: if everyone starts accelerating from roughly the same low speed at roughly the same time, no crash is possible. Hence the middle/end of the peloton does have to accelerate before they get past the starting line, otherwise they'll be immediately miles away from the leaders. According to comments from multiple pilots, the root cause was actually the other way round to what you described - it was Magnussen driving too *slow*, requiring the people who were ready for the restart to stop abruptly, causing this chain of crashes. And the real original root cause was that the restart line was unusually far away from the last corner, allowing huge differences in speeds between cars by that point.
I've watched this GP Botta so that was leading slowed down in the middle of the straight. The closers cars saw and reacted but the ones more to the back were caught by surprise. As said by latifi it was on the leader this one.
@@brunoboldt6336 No, there's no source that mentions that Bottas slowed down, neither did other drivers blame him. 12 drivers received warnings for this crash afterwards, but Bottas was not among them. Yes, he didn't accelerate till late point, but that's allowed and was the only possible thing in that situation, due to the distance till the restart line and due to the safety car's lights having gone out so late.
