    Rules Clarification - Patrol only prevents Thwart action so cards that allow you to remove threat directly without being a thwart action still works. Similar to direct damage vs Guard.

    The second encounter with Collector is too good. Rushing that last stage down with all the tools the scenario gives you feels like a circus, in the best way.

    Last night we had 3 games vs Drang and lost them all. 4 player coop with stock decks. Star Lord, Gamora, Groot & Rocket. I suspect Star Lord might be screwing us by adding more schemes than we can handle.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Star Lord is often a big gambler. Gamora I find more of a jack of all trades but a master of none. For a four player game you may need someone a bit more specialized to handle Star Lord's shenanigans.

  • @alessandronicastri4172

    Great review! Our group of 3 has done up to, and including, the 3rd scenario (so I stopped the video at that point so as not to spoil what's coming up.)
    We found Drang to be very tough. It took us four attempts: the first two we tried Black Widow, Rocket and Groot and we got stomped. For the last two my friend switched out Black Widow for Captain Marvel and it was more successful, and we won on the 4th attempt quite handily.
    For both Collector scenarios, we actually won the first attempt! And it's funny because we misinterpreted the rules, making the game harder: When you defeat the first Collector fight, you're supposed to write down the player cards, by title, that were still in the collection. Then, on the second fight, you're supposed to remove those cards from the game. We thought that meant EACH copy of that card, since it doesn't say to record the number of copies in the collection, just the card by title. This meant that in our game, despite having only one of each in the collection, we ended up removing all three copies of Marvel's Photonic Blast, three copies of Groot's Root Stomp, and both copies of Rocket's Relentless Assault. Needless to say it made the scenario harder, but when we found out thwarting was how you win, we focused on that. I feel like there are a few instances of poor phrasing in the rules, but overall it's been a blast so far!
    Side note: Since it is quite evident that you are supposed to record each copy of card that the collection takes, I can think of one situation where you would also need to record the resource symbol on the card - that being for Black Panther's Wakanda Forever. Even though the card title is the same, each copy has a different resource icon (2 share a wild). So when you have to remove the card from the game in scenario 3, you should technically remove the specific Wakanda Forever with that icon. Just an oddly specific detail I noticed.

    Interesting. The reaction I’ve seen to Hawkeye has been mostly positive. He dies more often than most but he can deal crazy amounts of damage and his quiver is 🤌 (especially before they nerfed the rule about letting it scry the top 5 cards of your deck).

      @@AllYouCanBoard The only reason I don't like Hawkeye is that he proves that they nerfed Hulk way too much. All of his cards are way better, he is doing the same 3 damage attacks, and all without the limitation of a 4 card hero hand that he has to throw away every turn. I know Hulk has 3 defense and more HP, but if you are defending with him you typically aren't going to able to swing for 3 or use his best attack card either.

    Expert Campaign is an extreme challenge - the expert side of the side schemes are ridiculous (particularly Collector, Nebula, and Ronan). Some people will enjoy the steep uphill challenge that it is, but I am not a fan.
    I am enjoying standard campaign with expert villains, for the most part, i just wish there was an official middle ground between standard campaign and expert campaign because the gap is huge.
    Drang is a really great scenario imo, challenging - you really need to bring the board control.
    Collector 1 - it is challenging and unique but I found his mechanic extremely unfun. Also is extremely hard in expert campaign.
    Collector 2 - The difficulty on this one is really going to vary, some groups will find it very easy and some very hard. Regardless, i found it to be fun, fresh, and thematic.
    Nebula - So I will say, that expert does ramp her up quite a bit from what I've seen from standard. I didn't think she would be that great, but I was pleasantly surprised as her ship makes for dynamic gameplay and her techniques are much more of a threat in expert.
    Ronan is a brutal challenge that I think the game needed. I have no idea how you are supposed to beat him in expert campaign tho.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it is definitely a huge challenge. I also don't know yet how Ronan is meant to be conquered on Expert mode. But perhaps there are cards coming in the next Guardians packs that will specifically make that a bit easier? Either way, it's nice to have a super tough challenge like that.

    Great to hear your thoughts Dylann. Always lots of interesting introspective on what's difficult or cool in the expansion. I have only played Drang with both new heroes on standard and expert and hes already a tough challenge on just expert. Only beat him a couple times after 5 or so tries. Looking forward to trying the rest of the villians. Did you deckbuild much or just stick with the default decks for both heroes? There seem to be a few cards in both decks that are highly situational in value (example rockets "Follow Through"). Definitely seems like the best content FFG has put out to date for MC. Cheers!

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, Brian! I did do multiple changes and modifications to the decks, including some full aspect swaps in a couple instances (although I had the most success keeping them as Aggression and Protection). Overall, it's a huge challenge upgrade compared to previous content but I enjoyed the challenge! -Dylann

    I found Collector 1 much harder than Collector 2. I got in control of 2 which was the only one I did (and I've not beaten Ronan yet). I think they are probably both very tough if things go against you but one felt oppressive and not fun. It's hard to tell with limited information just using Rocket Justice so far. Drang and Nebula were the easiest. Nebula is probably the weakest design as her stances are something you can't really play around with, they are just a clunky way of getting somewhat varied effects. I suspect my loathing of Collector 1 will beat that out though.
    I like the Stalwart mechanic tied to attachments so it does not remove stun lock etc just makes it harder and villainous is a great keyword.
    Funny isn't it that the 1 cost cards are weaker than the ones that cost 7 times as much? ;) Despite that I think the strongest ones are in the 5 costs bracket- low opportunity cost powerful effects for free and usually cantrips.
    I think the campaign is still weak and just half assedly links the scenarios. A good one would have interesting failure states. AH has this part beat.
    Rocket is tons of fun when you can get to do his stuff. Groot looks great too I hope to find out this week. It sounds like you play 2 handed exclusively while I only really solo - 2 hands is too much work and plague of course.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome thoughts, thanks for sharing and compiling all that! I will agree that in terms of narrative and connected story in the campaigns, it's weak and it likely always will feel a bit like that. Arkham is FFG's much more story-oriented and campaign focused game. However, I've also gotten to a place where I'm comfortable with that fact and still have more fun playing MC overall. And who knows, maybe they try something a little different for future campaigns or one day try to have heroes each come with a scenario and then try and connect a cohesive story across a whole year or cycle.
      Thanks again for the comment and support!

      @@AllYouCanBoard Yeah I like MC more just not in campaign format. When LOTR came out I was disappointed it was COOP then when the Star Wars one came out I was disappointed it was NOT COOP. Arkham did not have interesting deckbuilding to start with now this one has meh campaigns :)
      Maybe they'll do a revised Star Wars coop with strong deckbuilding and deep narrative campaigns and I can stop complaining :)

  • @madsdalager7499
    @madsdalager7499 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I found it too hard on standard. I am playing one-player mostly and Ronan is too insane. I played Ant-man justice because of the extra threat on each villain but I find that all of the extra effects mentioned between villains is the problem. The ronan I am facing on normal starts with 3 encounter-cards dealt first round, plus an extra because I had the powerstone completing nebula (I get an extra attack or scheme + 1) threat is two on main 9 on Challenge-sidescheme, 7 on pincer because I only had one counter on nebulas ship.
    The only way to win as I see it is getting lucky and hitting High-damage cards to turns in a row (giant stomp). But just surviving two turns doing damage is nearly impossible. Making standard just a bit easy’er would make it work. Want the tough challange - then play expert

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's definitely very hard on standard. I wonder if the intention is that if you get to Ronan and find all the additional encounter cards and nasty thing that's happen to be too much, that you're supposed to try the campaign again, now having the knowledge of how to prevent Ronan from being extra powerful in advance. Or to be able to buy market cards that will specifically help you with him. Either way, not saying that's a good solution, just thinking out loud.
      I do personally enjoy the challenge, but agree that it's definitely borderline TOO hard for a campaign, haha.

      There's a couple that would be weird to include in other scenarios, like Galactic Artifacts or really anything that has a victory keyword on it, but I think for the most part, most could be used with other villains, even if it doesn't thematically make sense, lol.
