This is great information on how to disassemble everything. I have a 99 Goldwing and Pathfinder product is now slightly different. 98-2000 requires installation of a shim and cutting two of the plastic tabs from each of the headlamps. Good news is it's more compact and doesn't required the large heat sink in the video. You also need to trim a bit of the rubber housings to make it work. All in all I was about an hour getting it done.

I installed this kit on my 1994 GL1500 last August . I had problems getting the headlight assembly to seat back in place. But with some force, I did get it installed just to find out that the lights were now pointing up much higher than they were previously. Also found that the headlight adjustment no longer worked and the lights were frozen in place. Closer examination and many profanity laced exclamations later I found that the heat sinks were pressed tightly against the firewall or whatever those parts are that are behind them. I found that if I put the heat sinks in backwards there was just enough clearance and everything fit. I called socal and talked to one of their reps who told me it was perfectly okay to do that and it shouldn't affect the service life at all. So after turning the heat sinks around and reassembling everything works fine. The headlights point where they should and are adjustable again. Much improved visibility. Wish I had known about the heat sinks going into this project. Would have saved time and frustration.

Has there been any problems with the heat sink contacting directly to the rubber surround on the lights? Ive seen some heat sinks get to where they couldn't be touched due to the temp

I wonder the same thing because with the new style they have, the heat sinks are touching the rubber. I'll be trying it out in the next few days and will report back. (I need to take it apart again to install my turn signal bulbs)

Gotta say Cruise man I installed the lights today on my 98 1500 se an I'm disappointed. The wiring harness is to short on the left side an it puts the headlight plug right behind the bulb after an hour of maneuvering an pulling it apart and back together again it still pushes the left side of the headlight to where I have to force the lenses back in. I went to check it out an go figure my left light is pointing up in the trees..the right side is fine for some reason it fits better on that side. Do you know of a solution..they need to add more wire to the harness.

Have you checked with SoCalMotoGear? That is the first time I have heard of this issue.

@@cruisemansgarage yes , thanks cruiseman I called an no ansewer..it said to email them. Reluctantly I did an haven't heard back but figured out the problem..They make them for the year 88-2000 but from 98-2000 you need special shims for the bulbs to fit..Im assuming the bulbs are clocked to a certain degree to fit 88-97. Also there is no directions on how to adjust the bulbs so I didn't know to even adjust them..figured it all out after the 3rd time of putting them in an out. They were both clocked at 10 an 5 so the lights were pointing to the left an in trees.. I appreciate you contacting me. Thanks again..Oh one more thing I had to cut my headlight plug off an add about 6 inch of wire so it wouldn't be pinned behind the left heat sink..they made the harness shorter..Maybe this will help the next guy from 98-2000 models..lights look good now..plug and play maybe not so much on my model.. I'm happy with them, good video on your part.

@@jblohm821 thanks 821,well I figured my problem out.. the heat sinks were on correctly but the bulbs were clocked from the factory in the wrong position and in the directions I saw nothing saying to adjust or how to adjust..then my other problem was what you mentioned having to force the light in place, the wires supplied were to short which puts the plug directly behind the heat sink an pins it in...Anyway long story but I got them working an like em ... in my case they were definitely not plug in play. I ended up adding wire to harness to move the plug..also mine has the halogens from the factory maybe there is a difference. THANKS again for the reply..have a great weekend

Cześć. Mam pewien problem z wyborem odpowiedniego zestawu żarowek LED. Mam GL1500 1997 ale klosz reflektora jest z plastiku a nie ze szkla jak na filmie. I teraz nie wiem czy kupić zestaw 1988-1997 czy 1998-2000?
