- Here's another vlog in the "sharing our journey" series . . . 12 vlogs, on 12 topics, related to off grid permaculture homesteading. In this vlog, we share where we're at with off grid summer cooking, some of our greatest lessons learned over the past 3 years, and some of our goals for future summer cooking ease.
Here are some of the highlights of our learning so far:
We really like having a break from wood powered cooking
in the summer, though we love using our cook stove all
winter long.
We are learning how to eat more fresh, raw foods in the
summer and cook less.
All cooking needs to be done outside in the summer to
help keep our cabin cooler.
Rocket mass systems using blocks can be tricky, but
there are ways that work, like this one that Doug and
Stacy made: • OFF GRID HOMESTEAD ROC...
Our propane stove top uses very little propane and is very
convenient to use. We would like to have a couple of
small rocket mass burners on hand in the event that
our propane runs out or we can't get propane for some
reason.
Propane ovens use a lot of propane, so we like the "hay box"
method and plan on getting a solar oven. We may also
build a cob pizza oven someday.

Welcome to our channel and thank you for taking the time to watch our vlog. We are a family of 8 living in a 500 sq. ft. off grid home on 20 acres in the Ozarks. We are endeavoring to put in "1000's of roots" on our land through permaculture design principles. We try to upload videos on Tuesdays and Thurdays.
Please leave any thoughts or questions you may have in the comments below. We would love to connect with you! And be sure to subscribe and share us with others who may be interested in our videos.
Thanks again for watching,
Kip, Carrie, and children
