Actually isn’t too bad for “activities” gf and I have owned and had activities in other vehicles and the FJ is nice, you can’t really see into it and the back seats fold almost flat

I have a 2014 and solved the blind spot to such an extent it’s like driving a convertible. I replaced my rear view mirror on the windshield with a “mirror” dash cam that has a front and rear camera. It’s touch screen with swipe and I simply leave it on rear camera which is a 160° view. You can keep it in front view, rear view or spilt view. At 10” it’s a great picture. Looks just like a normal rear view mirror. Zero blind spot. 160° rear field of view 170 front. Blind spot solved with the added bonus of the front and rear cameras recording everything. Parking mode security. GPS. Get one. You’re welcome my FJ people. 🙏🏼

You think tanks have good views? NO.
You want good gas and views drive a Prius. All those things don't matter when you got performance, rigidness, and reliability.
Just bought an 07 for 11k. They're tanks tho so the other issues are negligible imo. I do hate the lack of visibility tho lol

The more you drive it the more you adapt to the wide pillars and small windows, not a big deal for me. I have a 2007 and do not have the back up mirror, no big deal you adjust to it. The door issue is not an issue for us (only two of us.), but those with families it is or can be. Yes the FJ is a drinker no doubt about that, but hey SMILES PER GALLON! Yes the prices are insane! We want to get a second one for my wife, but we will wait for the FJ fever to die down before we get one.

I owned Fj cruiser 2016 here in pakistan 🇵🇰 and am happy with it, it’s reliable, amazing on off-roads ,,

but on daily routine i use only FJ ❤️
I used to own an R32 Nissan Skyline, fun car for sure. But my FJ, I can never sell it. Market value is irrelevant to me. The FJ is unique and capable in so many ways. It has taken me to some amazing summits and brought me back home safely. You can’t put a price on memories

One of the most awesome 4x4’s in the modern age. Hopefully you have one and not trying to buy one now though. Nearly nothing is apples to apples to compare. Here’s for hoping.
Garbage.
They are cheap here in Mexico and don’t know why. Maybe sellers are not aware they are selling legendary trucks for dirt cheap. Like you can get one for 15-30k depending on the year of fabrication.
They are great overland useable vehicles, I once spoke to a chap about his vehicle and he said that he WON it… That’s right, paid zero dollars for a brand new FJ in that nice vintage blue color.
Mine has a 167,000 miles and a dealership offered me 15k for it.
The one that sold for $85k was brand new from a dealership.
It will last a lifetime!
2 years later one just went for 100k. I paid 35k last month for one with less than 75k on it.
The door complaint continues to baffle me. As in, the 2 door off road vehicles have no easy access at all to the back seat. And passengers have to rely on the front occupants to get in and out as well. So, why would the FJ be worse? It is BETTER because at least once the front occupants open up, there is the ability to open a door and get out from the back seat through a door, instead of climbing over a tilted seat. ;) And that MPG # is not much worse than some of the other comparable capable vehicles of today. But the visibility is a def. horrendous issue. I had a chance to buy 1 when they were at fair market value many years ago, and it was too un-refined for a daily driver in part because of the poor visibility. I don't regret not getting one even tho I could make a small fortune on selling 1 now.

if you cant use your side view mirrors effectively than dont drive an fj. you are a danger on the road. ive had mine 7 years with no accidents or near accidents. i double check my mirrors in every instance. not just by looking but by leaning forward drastically to check the blind spot. mirrors are your friend. the fj naturally gets people out of the way bc who wants to get hit by that thing.

I found out the 2014 actually stopped selling in 2017 :) Wish I knew this back then. Toyota would have actually built you one if you ordered it, they stopped doing this 2017.
He doesn’t live with the fj. It’s the company’s vehicle they keep and will keep it while the prices are increasing for the fj and sell it when they can make a profit off of it but Tommy doesn’t drive the fj everyday and nobody at tfl uses it as their daily driver. They only bust it out every once in a while for videos and comparisons. His personal vehicle is a Willy’s little jeep. I’d take the fj anyday. People who actually drive it everyday as their own personal vehicle all love and admire their fj’s and once you mod them up alittle they become insanely capable and the reliability is the same reliability as a 4runner.

@@cdf8821 I bought it on November 19. Cavalry Blue. I had to put front rotors on it. Brakes all the way around. Had the oil changed. Put 4 Toyo A/T 3’s on it. Had transmission flushed. Rear door assembly replaced. Passenger side door stop replaced. I get 19 mpg combined city/ highway. It’s my dd. I love it!
I love my FJ. You get use to the blind spot once you adapt to it and find your sweet spot for the mirrors. If your worried about gas for an FJ you shouldn’t be driving anything pass a v4. Especially that it has an almost 90 degree windshield angle. The windshield acts as a giant parachute while driving 😂. When going down hill I just lay off the gas and it slows itself. Overall it’s a great dependable 4x4 vehicle when you want to have some fun and get off the grid.

A good number of them didn't come with key security like a Kia, if you don't have a dot or G on the metal part of the key go get an alarm.
But you own one, so the value of yours and all of ours, is increasing, which is good for owners. Keep it, take care of it and it'll be just as reliable and loved as your golden retriever.

If you bought one one you should test drive it.if these are issues for the buyer get something else . My first fj was bought low mileage from a woman who couldn't even park it.and she bought it brand new .I now own a 2014 .

I’m not interested in owning a Honda Civic, I’m not some line cook at a silly chain restaurant. I spend a lot of time outdoors. So I’m going to continue to be a motherfucker and continue to flex.

- Disagree on the size of windows (it allows for 3 freaking wipers!)
- Mine doesn't have a backup cam, but that goes down on skill.
- Agree on the blind spot
- Agree on gas mileage
- I actually like the door system. Although on a tight parking space, it can be a hassle.
- Price is actually a good thing. It is increasing in value and man, I love it!

I’m an old lady with a 2010 FJ. I’ve had it for 9 years now. I added steps that bolt to the rock rails both for the front and the back, and convex mirrors to cover the blind spots. It is perfect except for the rust underneath from years in the rust belt.😢 she is a Texas truck now and I am hoping this will save her.

I think you don't like Toyota
Initially they were a hit. But the recession forced Toyota to stop making them. It's a shame really because I love their sort of offroad retro styling. Toyota was ahead of the curve. Today offroad vehicles with retro styling are really popular
They stopped producing them in 2023, with the exception of a few special cases fro now on. Not 2014.
You're purposely holding the camera up high to make the windows seem worse than they are. They gave maybe 5° less vertical pan.
The plblind spot isnt bad either, thats what mirrors are for anyway. I can name far worse.
And the mileage? Bro, are you flooring it and awd all the time? I get 22mpg on mine, thats better then my 4cyl 1998 rav4
The gas is bad cuz it hauls better than f150 Chevy 1500 equivalents. They’re tanks. If u off road or haul weight or trailer these r beasts. The best u want to haul the entire house to camp, this is perfect. Wish I never sold mine. The only car I wish I never sold. I had stick shift btw

I just got one and none of those things mentioned are a problem in the least. The gas mileage isn’t even as bad as you say. I don’t have the back up camera. Guess what? Not a problem either because I learned how to drive in a time before tech managed our lives. Best and most unique vehicle I’ve ever owned. Never selling it. While on the subject, I picked it up for a great price. They are out there you just have to look.
None of which make the Truck undesirable. The blindspot sucks but you just have to be an experienced driver and learn to use your mirrors to full extent

Backing at night is difficult if not impossible. I installed rear lights on my cargo rack.
Just buy one from the GCC market. A brand new 2022 FJ Cruiser GXR model is $40K.
If you can’t get an FJ newer than 2014 because of legal reasons then a 2014 GCC model is around $21K

Don’t forget the front end catches every rock on the road. The upright windshield is a magnet for them and it has the aerodynamics of a house.
