Honest Review: Daytona Roadstar GTX Boots

[UPDATE] These boots have been replaced with the 'Pro' range.
An honest review of the Daytona Roadstar GTX boots. I have used these since the early 2000s and I'm on my fourth pair, being a high mileage rider I eventually wear them out-but it takes a long time.
I do not get paid or sponsored for my reviews which keeps them honest.

Good and honest review, Thank you so much. They are so comfy and well build. I bought a set of these secondhand 3 years ago. Unlike yours, I maintain mine meticulously. They are being used, but also cleaned and waxed often. I also rinsed the goretex liner recently by pooring in a mix of lukewarm water and vinegar and one drop of detergent and let them stay for about 15 minutes( they are still watertight). They look like they just came out of the box in the store , no wear at all apart from the wear on the soles . Only a new innersole was needed so far, costing 9€.... I am wondering how old mine are.... They still have the leather heelpart and they have only one velcro flap over the inner zipper, so not on both sides.

@gvybin Thanks for the comment, if you have a single velcro closer then you probably have the 'pimple' sole. I had these on my first pair, when it wore thin I had them resoled at nearly the price of a new pair!
I haven't heard of that method of cleaning Goretex before. I have found that Daytona boots stand up to a bit more neglect (I call it regular riding!) than other brands.

they have extra wide sizes?

@richarddalen0 Thanks for the question. I find the 'standard' size quite wide, but you may have to find a stockist and try some on. The website www.daytona.de/en/Boots/display/Overview-selection/Road-Star-GTX shows different calf sizes but doesn't mention widths. I hope you find some that fit as they are great boots.

How are they for walking ?

@chiefjoseph8154 - Thanks for the question. They aren't walking type boots and are a bit flat soled. I trogged up the hill opposite the Ponderosa Cafe in Wales and walk around in them if I've gone somewhere to have a mooch around but 3 hours is about enough, so for all day at a race meeting or bike show I take trainers.
