Saying this because being from mangalore we have grown and eaten KOKUM. And have eaten Mangosteen as well multiple times. About the price I think it's worth (not saying ₹1000), but a little premium price of ₹250-500 as Mangosteen is really nice never tasted a sour mangosteen in my life so far. And i have eaten it quite a lot
