  • This adventure I take my Nissan Frontier that’s 2WD up to big bear to hit some trails with Cody (@xpeditionamerica) to snap some photos for Diverge Magazine, didn’t know what I was getting myself in to.

    I’ve been driving all over those roads for 40 years. In my 2WD Nissans. 87 Hardbody SE V6, 98 Frontier, 2004 Frontier, 2005 Xterra Off Road 2WD (different tune, off road shocks, skid plates etc.). If you know how to drive, follow the best lines and keep your momentum going, you can do it.

    awesome editing. got a nissan pathfinder rwd for my offroad adventures. I remember seeing you at an overland bound meet @ steelhead

    • @Raymasseyus
      @Raymasseyus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How are you handling it with rear-wheel-drive? I like the Overland bound Channel also. I've got a rear wheel drive Silverado that's why I'm asking. I've always had four wheel drives

    • @Cryton1
      @Cryton1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Raymasseyus i am limited to fewer trails as i dont have a rear locker. rwd with an open differ = 1wd. if your truck as lsd or diff locker, you can do much harder trails. just bring good recovery gear and dont go in deep mud or snow.

    • @Raymasseyus

      @@Cryton1 My plan is a hi lift and if i use it i will jump to a winch. That should mess w the 4x4 guys. But who needs a winch more than a guy with a 4 by 2 LOL from what I understand to putting in a transfer case is not that difficult. One of the biggest problems with 2-wheel drive is missing the low range. four-wheel drive a still costs whole lot more than a winch setup throwing a used transfer case or even swapping the axle for one with the locker. I may not do that but we'll see if I'm going out enough and getting stuck enough it might be worth it to put one on. It looks like I can get one with a hitch Mount for about $400 I'll be all set front winch or rear winch when i need it.

    • @Cryton1
      @Cryton1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Raymasseyus you can get a locker installed in your diff w/o having to replace the whole diff. As for low gears, just stick in 1 or 2nd gear. just roll with what you have, until you see a true need for it.

    • @Raymasseyus
      @Raymasseyus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cryton1 yeah that's what I plan to do I know from previous experience it's an art to set up a differential I'm not sure what's involved in putting in the locker but I think you'd have to still adjust the Lash and everything. It might be easier just to swap the whole axle cuz I can do that with a few bolts
      and the U-joint. Good idea to keep it reigned in until I see that I need it.

      @@andysedano true. A good rear locker can make a bit of a difference. I say Titan swap be ause I came across it recently and was cool to see a oem upgrade setup for a mid-long travel for a much more affordable route. Titan front suspension parts, and front diff, much like us non zr2 guys do for upgrades.

    love seeing these 2wd or not high end 4wd cars compared to all these guys with their monster 150k vehicles offroading.
    Often judging and acting stupid to people with cheaper rigs...Not everyone can afford these monster 4x4's...
    I got a ssangyong rexton 4wd (no diff lock so no proper 4x4) from 2014, the places this car has dragged me trough is pretty impressive already.
