    I have a long coat Swiss Shepherd and the shedding is by far not as bad as that of my Akita. Compared to her it feels like he barely sheds at all 😂
    He is also not shy. Nice and friendly, yes but very outgoing and wants all dogs to be his friends, a bit more shy wirh people but in a good way. I think the German Shepherd genes in him ate strong as he actually needs a very strict training or else doesn't take you serious in any way at all lol. He learns quick and is obedient but very very head-strong. Maybe one of a kind but as much as I love him because he is funny, sweet and awesome, he is anything but a first time dog

    WSS may not make good police or military dogs, but they actually make increasingly popular search and rescue dogs! They have a good nose and intelligence.

    white Swiss' are also very awesome search and rescue dogs, we have a lot of search and rescue teams here in Europe that use mostly or even only white Swiss'...
    and one of their health issues to look out for is allergies, mostly food related, though enviromental allergies do happen as well, (food) allergies and digestive problems are a common thing among the larger part, if not all, of the sheppie family...
    (I know this from experience, since my Swiss white boy King has food allergies... though he does very well on a raw meat diet supplemented with some (cooked) veggies and or rice or potatoe for some added viber, cause even dogs like to stay "regular"
    (if you feed your dog potatoes, please do make sure you cook the potatoes very well, and then let them cool down after ofcourse, because raw potatoes contain a substance that can make dogs very ill, and when feeding dogs veggies, best stay away from veggies like cabbage and such, because no one likes a gassy dog ;P )
    they are also very intelligent and intuitive and sensitive when it comes to what others around them are feeling and need, which is why things like shouting at them are not a good idea as they really take that to hart, but it is also what makes them such awesome service and therapy dogs...
    for instance; a friend of mine used to be in the army and unfortunately because of that is now stuck with a ptsd , but whenever he visits me or I and my boy King him and he is feeling some kind of way because of that ptsd my dog knows just what to do, if that's putting a paw or his nose on his knee for support, or crawling in his arms to get him out of a shut down or lay guard at his feet, before that friend of mine even knows it himself my boy has already sensed what's coming and has already very calm but speedy begun to take action... and that is so damn cool to see (not that that friend has ptsd ofcourse, but how my dog reacts to it)...
    he's also such a big softy that he will lay on the ground as flat as he can just so the smallest of my 3 cats can wash his ears, and he will even fall asleep during one of those "baths" (my profile pic is actually the two them snuggled up together when that cat was even smaller and just barely 6 months old)

    Buy automatic vacuum or you will have to vacuum daily. They shed a lot. They shed more than Samoyeds... Brush daily definitely imo. Their genetics is good point always track their roots, with shepherds especially.
    I also had golden retriever mix with white GS, she looked like goldish Swiss, perfectly healthy and pretty laid back sweetheart. It was an awesome mix, prolly the best one ever to me. Mutts are just awesome, always greatful, cheaper or free and usually with less health issues due to genetic "refresh"

    i'm taking care of my sister in law's Swiss Shepard. he's not kidding about the fur. 2:31 omg it gets everywhere. you name it it's there. if you don't vacuum every other day you'll be breathing in fur. and be prepared to go through a lot of lint rollers just to keep the furniture from becoming white. i don't know how one dog can lose so much fur and not be bald. other than that he's a big lovable cuddle monster.

    I have a 3 months WSS puppy, he's learning but mostly food motivated. I live with my nephew he always bothers the dog, he's bitting too much due this, since he came here 1 month ago, i believe the first owner mistreated him. He doesn't like to be lift from the floor and can bite. Also has started slarning when eating, teaching him to not bite when eating. Any advice, i know he is still young, but also know he's going to learn fast

      Look up GSD puppy biting here on youtube or on the web, it is a normal thing, almost all of them are sharks at puppy age, it is typical GSD behaviour. Use toys or treats to redirect them, training and clear, kind and consistent training really goes a long way and remember it will stop. As for the resource guarding, find the pup a quiet place to eat, make them sit when you put it down and try to have a set feeding schedule, pick up the food after 10-15 mins. Being so young the pups should be offered smaller amounts more often throughout the day, pup might be hungry. Good luck, there are tons on videos about GSD'S training on TH-cam. Just go with that, no matter what people say, the Swiss Shepherd is still very much a GSD just with a long white coat. Please do not punish the pup for misbehaving when your nephew is causing the issues, teach the kid to stop being awful to your puppy and teach him to be nice, he'll have a good friend for a long time olif he does this. Shepherds don't forget bad treatment, be kind but firm and consistent with both the nephew and puppy. You have a great breed, they are a lot of work but very much worth it.

    Do they bark specially much? I am looking for a dog and I love everything about the WSS, but I want a dog that doesn't bark so much. I mean I know they bark, but some races do more than others, and I prefer a silent one.

    • @DogsNowChannel

      Ours is a bit of a barker, but only ever with reason!
      He barks to protect the house as a guard dog, give out to the cats for being naughty, and when playing doorbell when we get visitors.
      He also barks at the moon if it dares show itself during the day or cry when ambulances come by.

    • @leoncampa
      @leoncampa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They are very resilient to any type of weather. However, with increased heat, will come increased shedding. You can expect bundles of fur everywhere in your house, and vacuums will often face the full wrath of having to deal with that.

    Wasn't this breed named because AKC wouldn't allow wgsd in confirmation shows, in essence the wgsd was adopted into the swiss shepherd family. I've had a swiss sheperd breeder tell me they are the same. Also your prices on wgsd are way too low. Check the breeders on the internet

      Late reply, I know, but I would guess those are due to insufficient socialization and bite inhibition training in puppy age. I have a 2 years old White Swiss boy - my 6th dog - and I had to do a lot of work to get him to stop biting when he was a puppy.

    • @PolarDove
      @PolarDove 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yammaaaaaa No problem. You can still do the bite inhibition training even now. Puppy probably learns more quickly but adult dog will learn it too eventually. It will just take some time and patience. The aggression is a lot harder to root out but still doable, perhaps with a help of a professional in your area. Best wishes to you and your dog. :)
