Triple Triple Play: 1) Ended the game 2) Clinched the Post Season for the Padres 3) Shut the door against Ohtani who was ready to win the game with a walkoff home run. Mindblown!
Los dodger pueden perder todo los juegos q quedan ya con los q tienen van a las postemporada. LA 93/64 Padres 91/66. A los Angeles le faltan 2 contra los padres y 3 contra los Rokies.
It was the third triple play to end a game in the last 30 years-twice by the Padres. San Diego became the first team in MLB history to clinch a playoff spot with a game-ending triple play.
Oh Man. Oh Manny, I can't believe what I just saw. The most amazing post-season clinching play that I've ever seen! I'm still reeling from the utter depths of despair with another potential Suarez meltdown and then Manny starting that perfect play; knowing where he was, back-tracking to third base and firing a perfect missile to Cronenworth, who made the perfect turn and throw to Solano. Man oh Manny, what a play.
It still puzzles me how Manny Machado continues to be as underrated as he is. That's not by any means a routine throw, at least in terms of timing. That efficiency and fluidity of movement is quite rare, even for a left-side infielder. He has to hit a pretty small window, while pivoting, to give Cronenworth any sort of chance to relay it to first. The mechanics were so perfect, the entire play seemed a forgone conclusion. This is the first triple play in three months, and for good reason.
Watching this live, I’m hoping double play. Manny takes a step backwards, and I’m like “yeah! Get the lead runner.” Then they get the runner on second and I’m like “I like this double play.” Then he turns it for first and I’m like “wait, wait, wait…” My brain refused to process the triple play until the announcers screamed it. Even then I was still too stunned to say anything. LFGSD.
You could even hear how Don couldn't believe it. My buddy checked... its been 14 years since Pads turned a Triple Play, but I'm guessing that one wasn't as dramatic as this one
I cannot believe this dude was swinging in this situation. You're batting 9th, just take the pitches and strikeout so the top can come do their thing. Insane to me, what an ego.
What an awesome play!! Even though we lost the game, I have to say, respect to the opponent for their outstanding performance!! Congrats on getting your ticket to the Postseason🎉
I'm a Padres fan, and to be honest, I had almost given up on the idea of Rojas getting a triple play and Ohtani getting his turn to bat, so I honestly feel like Rojas was lucky to have escaped.
Suárez throws to many fastballs in the middle I’ll understand if he throwing high cheese but in the middle and teams know what he gonna throw at least throw the fastballs up 😭😭
The only thing stopping this from being 100% perfection is that it wasn’t home I was waiting for a monster crowd reaction completely forgetting the Dodgers were the home team
Seeing the title, I was expecting a GIDP with a runner caught in a rundown or something. I was not expecting such a beautiful round the horn triple play.
I remember the Padres clinching a playoff berth on the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Dodgers in LA back in 96 and on the 3rd and final game of the season the clinched the NL West pennant. It’s almost similar circumstances this year, please let it happen again.
I mean at that point you kinda have to, it would be stupid not to challenge at least the out at second, it was by far the closest out. I would expect shildt to do the same thing especially with your star player up next and a division championship in the balance
@@Dodgerschamps24 Talk about it more ah ha ha. The Padres beat the Dodgers in the playoffs 2 years ago. And the Dodgers will choke in the playoffs. They always do!
