The serpent going up the tree is a symbol of spiritual awakening. There are two types of spiritual awakenings: One: by unclean spirits or two: by the Holy Spirit. A spiritual awakening by demons means you can gain power by them to see into the spirit world and astral travel and do all sorts of things. It is how witches practice true witchcraft by connecting with the spirits through the rising of their energy up their spine into their chakras. The Holy Spirit gives the same abilities to some. The difference for the Christian is the fact they do not WILL power. They are vessels for God's use, so they do not use their will; they do God's will. The snake up the tree or rod symbolizes a man merging with the spiritual world. Activating their spirit in them to connect either with Christ or demons. Jesus shows the perfect example of this in his meeting with satan in the desert when he refuses to use his spiritual power to turn stones into bread and call angels to catch his fall... Satan would be happy to show off his spiritual powers for his own glory. Jesus was dedicated to pleasing God on Earth by doing His will.

This is really interesting. A few months ago, I was on what I guess would be a spiritual journey, taking in all forms of ancient tradition, from Christianity, to Toaism, to Hinduism, to Buddhism, to paganism, and trying to figure out what was right. I was also on a really destructive path in my life, at the lowest of lows. One day, I was high, by myself in the middle of the night, playing my guitar. And I had an image of a serpent come to me, which scared me, like nothing else. Immediately, I went cold, and went to bed, but sat up, shivering through a Hot night, as it was summer in the southern hemisphere. I was cold for about 3 days, which I imagine was the spirit of the serpent, being cold blooded in me. I had never felt this kind of fear in my life. I felt compelled to go into a church one day to talk to someone. I'd never been to Church in my life. And when walking in, the guy there handed me a card before speaking to me. It had on it a bible passage. It said "Have I not Commanded you, be strong and brave. Do not be scared, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" when reading it, I felt a sense of calm, like this wad God communicating with me directly. How else would this guy know to give me a card with that specific line on it? Why did he give me a card at all?
Now, a few months on, I'm attending Church regularly, and have put my faith in Christ and my relationships with friends and family and general outlook on life have improved, as well as dropping most bad habits and working on dropping others.
Another interesting example of this symbol is the pillars of hercules depicted with banners wrapped around them, particularly on the old Spanish peso that was widely used in the colonial Americas and is believed by some to be the origin of the $ symbol.
Moses held up a staff with a brazen serpent on it to heal the Jews from the bites of a serpent while they were in the desert on their way to the promised land. That is where that symbology came from.

Similarily your explaination reminds me of Jesus ascending the mountain with the apostles and then having to remind them they have to go back down as well. And this could be some sort of religious altered state of consciousness. Like bipolar disorder, mania, euphoria, ritualistic etc.
When the holy spirit entered me a couple of times, it came through a breath and my body became cold /cooled as if a spirit had entered my body and it changed my Consciousness completely. It was like living in high definition and some times time would slow down , and my vision was vibrant and not pixelated, just very smooth.

Could you also think of it as the rod or string centre being the correct path, the route up to heaven, and the serpent can represent sin. So despite this sin we can make it to heaven, but because of our sin it won’t be as easy to get to the end of the rod. If you uncool the snake it will be much longer than the rod, and this could represent how sin slows us down from being on the correct path and reaching heaven and becoming good people

Great presentation. My theory about Christ being referred to as the serpent is that Yeshua and Lucifer are the same being. Basically just about everything in the Bible is metaphors or symbolism. It is my belief that Lucifer/Yeshua was also Enki, the chief scientist of the Anunnaki who genetically engineered humans. His insignia was two serpents entwined around a staff, which represented his scientific and medical knowledge. The story of the garden of Eden I believe is simply the story of Enki bringing knowledge to humankind.

Religion is for people who are afraid of hell, spiritually are for people who have been in it. Our mission is to bring heaven down to earth. I’m named after Jesus & I don’t follow man. Man by nature is corrupt. I don’t take shit serious, I strive with ambition to raise a family I never had.
Over the past few years I have done a lot of reading on pagan symbolism (not because I am a pagan but to better understand the symbols seen in our world). The snake is everywhere across all cultures. There is a book called the Cosmic Serpent that makes the argument quite convincingly that the serpent is representative of DNA. Sumerians even have literal representations of the DNA spiral. Jacobs Ladder is very similar to DNA as well.
Relating this to the garments of skin/light theme it makes even more sense. New Agers talk a lot about how our "junk DNA" isn't junk but rather the key to our ascension to a higher dimensional reality. There is also the "rainbow light body" in Tibetan cultures where a monk literally turns into a light body at the moment of his death. One of these cases was supposedly investigated by a Catholic priest who decided the phenomenon was real. The rainbow light body sounds a lot like Christ's glorified body.
So our DNA in it's fallen state is the source of death. DNA in a perfected state activates a light body (garment of light).

A snake(large milk snake i hope) slithered out through the cracks between rocks and and then back in again through another crack. Two years in this greenhouse, first time I ever saw one. If you turn it on its side it is essentially a basic representation of a sine wave, which has peaks and troughs that represent distance traveled from the origin, but there is a pendulum-like effect and even the extremes are oriented around and return to the origin. I think the "most famous" work is his Life of Moses.

I was recently looking at a video about “gravity” as an expression of time “dilated”. The symbols they used were diagrams you can convert to the stick and the serpent. The rod was the axis of Earth moving in space and the serpent the Moon spiraling alongside. I think the science guy did not know symbolism at all. He could not convey the idea without it.

Listening to him, it occurs to me that the damnation of man or the fall of man happened by a serpent wrapping itself around a tree and tempting him to consume the fruit of that tree. And so in turn, Christ wraps Himself and binds Himself to the Tree, and invites us to receive the Fruit of the Tree of Life. So while Christ does compare himself to the serpent, truly the serpent is a type of Christ, not the other way around. Christ is not a type of serpent. Christ doesn't look like the serpent. St John Henry Newman speaks to some degree about this, when he talks about the knowledge of good and evil. He said that God's knowledge of good and evil is not like man's. A person's knowledge of good and evil must be through experience, but God's is through true knowledge.

It is not surprising that both cultures have a "serpent on a pole" story. It's a good thing.
I am confused. Should Christians avoid or embrace this symbol? Is the usage of the rod of Asclepius, Caduceus, and Cup of Hygenia in medicine a mockery of Christianity, idolatry, or a harmless historical symbol? I understand the symbolism, what's the MORALITY of its usage.

I think what is important is that we clearly and humbly always try to distinguish evil and sin from 'misunderstood good's, 'unknown goods', and 'goods that have been labeled as evil by a confused culture'. This is the gnostic confusion of the left in say their obvious postmodern devouring mother complex with 'toxic masculinity'. They have no sense of metaphysically separating masculine strength from its misuse. So if we see the serpent as unknown spiritual and human potential, then we stay safe, but always be careful of a pseudo-intellectual or malevolent trying to sneak in sin itself as a good.
One parallel I would like to see made would be the allegory of Plato's cave and Christ and/or Lazarus emerging from the tomb.

Brah a snake wrapped around a pole versus two spiraling figures wrapping around each other look different. I looked it up there one called the Rod of Asclepius and another called the Cadecues.
