Save yourself the excitement folks. When the stuff starts cookin' the lid fogs up - LOL LOL. The glass lid is absolutely NOTHING like the original cast iron lid in looks or function. I'm a huge Staub fan. But with a glass lid the product is of LESSER quality in both design and function. Hence, why it's cheaper.

Staub is from northeastern France so the Alsatian pronunciation is more like "Sch'toob". Have fun.
Cook n look AKA cheaper to make it out of glass than cast iron.
You are 100 percent correct!!! I returned ALL of my "cook n looks:" recently - it does NOT compare anywhere to a cast iron lid!
