Interesting & informative video , however there were some facts that are exaggerated , irrelevant or misleading. The NHS is not free to anyone coming to the UK for up to 6 months except for a few European countries & dental treatment will cost extra , if staying longer students for example have to pay £470 a year or get medical insurance. Edinburgh is NOT very expensive , only the property costs are really high just like any other desirable city but still far more affordable than the UK capital , if you use budget hotels outside of the peak tourist season , chain eateries and supermarkets , the prices are generally the same as the rest of the UK. Black taxis might still be the 2nd highest in the country , obviously services like Uber are a cheaper alternative and buses are only £ 1.80 for a single fare of any distance or £4.50 unlimited for a day !. The tv licence & council tax ( free to students ) is the same anywhere in the country and is not specific to Edinburgh , why is that included ?. As the UK's number 2 tourist destination , there are millions of visitors every year but only in the city centre , they help support the hundreds of amazing attractions this city has to offer. Edinburgh is very safe compared to larger cities , thankfully 'con artists' are very rare. I wouldn't call the city 'relatively tiny' at 16 km across but driving around the centre is best avoided due to endless roadworks and council restrictions. The weather is not that bad ! , on average there is 237 days of no rain a year , it is more sunny with less rain in the East than the West of Scotland , being close to the sea the temperature rarely gets really hot or cold although the wind is fairly constant making it feel a bit colder at times.

Yeah, was going to call out the weather comment. Edinburgh can definitely be a wet and rainy place. But more often than not it’s pretty dry and sunny. Biggest con for Edinburgh at the moment is traffic works disruption.

😂What a lot of absolute lies. I am Scottish and I've lived nearly all over Britain, and Edinburgh is the worst place I've come across for getting employment apart from Anglesey North Wales, unless of course you want to work in a laundry factory out at Bonnyrigg or in a kitchen with extremely abusive chefs. You can apply for jobs for months in Edinburgh and get nothing. It's a small city with VERY LITTLE EMPLOYMENT. The streets are full of the homeless, many of them holding up fake cardboard signs that say "ex serviceman, I need £15 to stay a night in Bobby's hostel." The whole place is just a showpiece for tourists especially Chinese and Spanish. It's an extremely nationalistic place with freezing weather and rain along with people waiting at bus stops not even talking to each other. They will indeed be friendly to people to help them get settled but as for the city itself its a bloody disgrace. It's a city like Moscow that sucks people in, then churns them out. Him doing this video doesn't know what he's talking about. It's not a place that has laid-back people that genuinely want to know you and socialise. The place is all about Edinburgh and not about you, that's why they will help you get settled. It's a very unforgiving place that will just abandon you if you're not nationalistic for Edinburgh. If you don't believe the Edinburgh weather is freezing with wind and rain, why don't you visit Edinburgh and you will see for yourself?

I'm orignally from Glasgow, lived 50 years in the US and 6 years ago moved back to Scotland. I'm on the west coast. With the sea to the front and mountains to the back. The promenade, the greens and the marina are always lovely to watch. With that being said it is much wetter on the west coast. The rain and damp can do you in if you have certain health issues. People forget how small Scotland is. I can pop up to Glasgow and catch the train to Edinburgh and be there in under an hour. I will be moving across to the East coast in a few months. You do not have to live right in Edinburgh to enjoy all it offers. Many surrounding towns are much cheaper and as close as a 10 min train ride. There are many discounts for public transportation in Scotland. Students receive discounts. Disabled, seniors ride the bus free. There are several discounts for train fare as well. Plus, your dog is welcome and rides free on both as well. Having worked in health care most of my life and having lived in different countries even during the pandemic let me just say this. The free NHS is not as great if you have any chronic health issues. If you only see a doctor for a cold or flu you won't mind. They don't do maintenance like they do in other countries. They wait until there is an issue. If you need a specialist the wait can be weeks, months or over a year. Free NHS, you get what you pay for. My advice would be to buy private insurance. If you are coming from the US you will be amazed at how inexpensive that is compared to US prices.

You only need to pay a tv license if you watch live tv.
If you watch Netflix, Prime or Disney (amongst other streaming services) and not any live tv you don't need to pay for a license. I love in Scotland and havnt paid one in over 5 years (legally)

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is often a place where new acts such as a new comedian starting out and maybe wants to make him or herself that bit better known.
Edinburgh in August is ideal for that. Probably one of the biggest and best in the UK if not Europe for new acts or shows starting out.

I am from Scotland, and I can tell you for a Capital, Edinburgh is small. Although the right size for our small country and packed with interesting buildings, events and history. Although Edinburgh has a population of 0.5 million it's greater catchment is about 1 million. Scottish cities tend to be compact and have many smaller sattelite commuter towns around them seperated by areas of countryside (green belt).

The Cons are a bit thin - TV license is UK wide, Small City is good - means you can escape to country side easily, Tourists - only on a few streets, the New town and Leith are great quite places to live. Pick pockets? Really! Pro's: Large and very diverse food scene. Wonderful Bar's off all types. Great Bus, train and tram travel around the City (Free if you're 60+). And most importantly a great City to walk around and feel safe and good about life........for you and your kids.

Well folks l would pack all of your houses up and start seeking new accommodation to live in long term as long as the Scottish council and housing associations accept DHSS BENEFITS and housing benefits then you should make sure that the tenancies are long term and unfurnished and on a bus and team link for shops doctors surgeries and banks and hospitals and train links for commuting for work or colleges or universities or colleges

Scotland people are very very proud of their historical places of importances and not just that but the royal family stately homes one Ben the Queen mother who is no longer alive and the royal Queen who past away recently as the English people don't like to be friendly with their own people the council's here on Kingston upon Hull prefer the migrants coming in from callie as n as Nd off the boats this is why our Yorkshire people are seeking to find other accommodation as our own UK people are been refused help to get on training courses and help to set up their own businessis this is why people from Yorkshire are leaving in the droves to Scotland and other parts of Yorkshire for a better life away from discrimination from. Edinburgh is the Disneyland of Scotland. Leave it to the tourists. The real Scotland lies elsewhere.

Stunningly handsome, cosmopolitan, welcoming and outward-looking, Edinburgh is a great place to live. It is however the capital of a country that has now been shown to be a colony of England. The fight for Scottish independence and self-determination - a democratic right blocked by Westminster - goes on after which, expect Edinburgh to be an even more vibrant city as a Scotland reclaims its place in the EU, its citizens having voted overwhelmingly against Brexit.

Imagine you are beaten by English nationalist in Scotland if you utter scottish/galeic words or put/pin/hold scottish flag. That is what happened with Hungarians living in west ukraine (who were cut from their mother country in 1920 by Treaty of Trianon). I live 50 miles form Ukraine border and we know. there is even a law, you can check, which forbids in school to use your own language in school. If you use/pin/waive Hungarian flag there you are beaten until you bleed. Same applies for Russians there. But you in the west media bubble do not hear these. The Minsk agreement was to assure these rights but Ukraine ignored it with the support of the west.
Zelensky has a multi million euro palace in Tuscana, Italy, he has had it even before he became president. Where do you think that money came from? His wealth is estimated 1,5 billion USD. Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world and is far from being a democracy
Russia cannot be beaten only talks give peace but USA does not want it. Even if Ukraine wins back all territories, what is guarantee Russia will not go back some months later? Nothing.
Ukraine is in ruins, the economy is bankrupted, the people fled, those who stayed are in life lasting war shock. The war does not seem to end soon. There is no winner in this.
The solution is to respect the concern of Russia and for Ukraine to respect minority rights.
but the west decided to pay the 'cost of freedom', So pin the Ukrainian flag onto your shirt and enjoy the western style of living while it lasts.
