    Picked up my first Rollei last weekend. So your shirt grabbed my attention immediately. Love it!

    Nice review. I agree with you regarding colored vinyl. I prefer black. I have always been concerned with the difficulty checking the condition of colored vinyl. I am usually weary of buying used vinyl that is colored.

    Amen on the splatter, clear and colored vinyl trend.

    Just finished listening to the Charlie Parker - smokin' hot. Got Walter Bishop on now, and you are right about Harold Vick

    The good thing with splatter vinyl is you don't see the scratches on new records 🙂

    What's the point if music lovers can't buy the records they want because they are phony scarcities caused by greedy record labels? Same as it always was -- the fans are victims of the music merchants.

    • @kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455
      @kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455  ปีที่แล้ว

      Only scarcity is caused by greedy record labels? Lets see the evidence. They print as many as I they can sell. They have no idea how many stores are going to order and the stores don’t know how many they will receive. Almost all of these titles will be in stock tomorrow at jazz record center. Call in and Fred will be glad to send them to you. If that is greed, then you want something for nothing
      😮

    Dirty records. As soon as I open any record I purchase I clean it before listening to it. I clean also after I’ve listened to it.

    It’s funny they can put out any throwaway bill Evans or Chet baker and it’s huge. How bout art Pepper…too much emphasis on white jazz artists, far more proportion wise than they ever merited.
    They may have made some decent records but these 70s Evans reissues and Chet baker one inch from hitting the floor recordings are not worth the promo hype substance wise
    Stick with blue note and impulse, they know what’s up.
    I guess it’s attractive to get laid in college or something…the REAL heads and players know the deal.
    Let’s stop trying to find the white John Coltrane, cause it ain’t art Pepper

    • @awrogers3013
      @awrogers3013 ปีที่แล้ว

      The closest to a white Coltrane would be Allan Holdsworth

    The Art Blakey album is a horrible recording. Even on the back of the jacket it states that it’s Lo-Fi. The sound is a train wreck. I am a big Art Blakey & Jazz Messengers fan and I gave it one listen and sold it on Discogs for face value. Some historic recordings should be left in the vault. ☹️

      I only listened to a bit of it so far and thought that maybe some of the comments I had already seen about it were being a bit harsh until the vocals kicked in. Ooofff. Yeah something went very wrong in that recording process. I'm glad they at least included a digital copy of the full 3 hours for the cost since it seems like the only reason it was pressed to vinyl was to recover the cost of doing it at all.

      I wish I would have researched this release before pulling the trigger. But, it was RSD and I just grabbed it. But based on all the releases that I have by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers I had no reason to think this was a dud. Some fans will still buy it to be complete.

    I have a Wynton Marsalis Album "Live at Bubba's" from the late 80s, I guess the same venue as that Sonny Stitt.

    I wonder if that Bird lp is the same cubop music Verve put out on cd around 2000 a.d.? If so, man, that thing swings hot! Bongos and congas all over the place.

    ....and if it's cut from a hi res file , you get a wider frequency range than 20-20,000! The vibrations of the grooves capture it fully! Even a CD file gets "smoothed out" instead of being "cut off abruptly " at 20k on LP!

    The Miles Davis complete On the Corner box set has been out for years on cd. Don’t understand why this RSD is titled rare. They did this to Jack Johnson, plucked six songs from the complete box set.

    Pretty bummed that by 11 AM the Charlie Parker was already sold out at the JRC, I realize it was a very limited run but sheesh. Agree completely about colored vinyl and I love the shirt, too!
