A Quiet Place Day One has just hit theatres and after checking out the film, I was surprised at how well this prequel worked. It works as it's own seperate take on the series during the invasion of the death angels, but it also connects to the other movies in a few brief ways too. What did you think of the latest Quiet Place movie?
I personally enjoyed the movie a bit more than i thought i would going into it. The scene where Eric acted as a magician onstage to make Sam smile for just a moment was really nice and it was the little looks they gave each other throughout the film that made it for me. Eric wanting to go grab meds for Sam, going to get her cat while being surrounded by aliens, and Sam being able to help keep him calm was so great. I wish Sam made it out at the end but in the end i thought it was solid movie. Saw in IMAX so i definitely wanna check it out in Dolby next time.
I may sound really sensitive but the ending made me cry so much. The way she saw her pizza place destroyed to when they go to the jazz club. The way why she gives him the cat is just so emotional to me. I have lost someone to cancer as well so it did hit closer to home with this. Idc what anyone says this was 10/10 for me
I would give it a 10/10, such a beautiful human story .. When the guy jumps with the car in the water, I literally had tears in my eyes too. And every part of the movie was so emotional. Truly a humanistic story, I can’t explain through words but it’s more a human story and beautifully shown emotions.
Most importantly, she found a new owner for Frodo. People grappling with their own mortality often stress their beloved pets not having someone that will love them.
very poorly made movie. you do not get to see the realization of the humas. no learning p;rocess. and how can this girl out run the aliens at the end when smashing the car windows? I thought it was very fake.
Thought Day One was just as good as the previous two films. I know some people wanted to know more about the aliens. But honestly, I don’t think we need to know any more about them other than what we already know that is important. They’re just aliens that came from space, they’re blind and attack anything that makes noise, and they can’t swim. What else is there to learn about them?
I think it’s mainly the back story of where they really came from or is there a higher power other than the main aliens. As much as I loved this movie, the only thing I want to know more about is the aliens and their origins. I understand your point as well tho. It just would give more hype for these movies if they made one with more detailing on the aliens
What was they eating in the scene with the cat and guy on the beam, looked like fluffy egss, what was the point of that scene with no explanation, they just teased lol
I want to know how they breed, because in the scene where Eric goes to get meds for Sam, he encounters what I imagine it’s the queen alien feeding its offspring. Honestly, the three movies are awesome, and I love a story well told, I enjoy the journey not the destination
I have four pets. None of them are quiet. I couldn't imagine losing them to a death angle because grizzly barked at his own shadow or lucy ran around too excitedly, blue cheese or meatball meowing too loudly and too much over nothing. Hell. Just getting their food out of the bag would be a death sentence. Could i survive A Quiet Place? No, probably not, lol. Unless i suddenly turn into the most lucky person ever.
I would give it a 10/10, such a beautiful human story .. When the guy jumps with the car in the water, I literally had tears in my eyes too. And every part of the movie was so emotional. Truly a humanistic story, I can’t explain through words but it’s more a human story and beautifully shown emotions.

I’ve seen a lot of people have issues but I loved this just as much as the other two. Would I have loved to learn more about the creatures? Ofc but I wasn’t really expecting that from this addition in the franchise.
I felt exactly the same way. It was a great prequel that focused more on its own journey than connecting things. Yet it still did have the odd connection which was also welcome.
*Spoliers* There is a sequence in the movie where Eric is trying to get Frodo, and the Death Angels are opening these sacks which are like their food source. And they were in a crater where they landed, so that tells me two things: 1. While they are ferocious, they may not exactly be carnivorous in nature. 2. The fragments that the Angels landed with have fractions of their surviving ecosystem they need to live.

Interesting theory but I wouldn't like this movie as much as I do if she didn't die because I feel like this was the only fitting end for her because she wanted to live this apocalypse like her last few days and then she would go away
Fantastic breakdown/review as always. Thank you Cortex. This was a fantastic movie. My family and I love to watch these types of movies, the kids are away so this one was one just my wife and I went to see. Having a son who has survived stage 3 cancer we were emotional from the start. This was a great story within a story and they did a great job. Kept things different enough to enjoy as a 3rd entry into the franchise. For me this was one of the better movies put out recently.
It was a great movie, just saw it today. All in all the continuing stories have all been excellent. I normally don't like prequals, but this one was done well. Looking forward to the remaining allien monsters getting theirs in the next installment. Also that cat was amazing in this movie. This was more about the human connection than anything else.
❗️ SPOILERS❗️ So when the guy (Eric, or however his name is spelt) tries to get the cat back with aliens/Death Angels right behind him crawling down, did no one question the thing they were eating after that sence or was that just me? Like I guess they had to explain what their feeding source was because it wasn’t the humans they were killing but you think to add something like that (like a background or something) in the second movie. I hope we get more info about in the game that will be coming out.
Besides the jump scares and stuff I thought that the entire premise that the creatures are indestructible besides the ear drums was just lazy writing. I mean even dinosaurs skin was penetrable.
Like a kid not knowing how to swim, the water was shallow enough for the creature to still come up for air. Whereas in other cases, the bodies of water such as the lake or flooded subway, there was nowhere for it to go thus leading the others to drown.
I just wanted to know where “THEY” came from I enjoyed the movie, being a native New Yorker in the “CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS” it reminded me of when the pandemic first hit…..

@@watcher9997it’s simple, the planet they were on exploded due to an asteroid, or some other space phenomenon which caused a chunk of rock where these creatures were living to go to earth. It probably took centuries and they were just in a deep sleep.

Loved day one. I actually love all the movies in the franchise. One thing I wished they would have showed in day one was the boat scene where they had 12 boats and ended up with only 2. I know he spoke on it but I wanted to see it in action.
I dont get the ones saying it's boring. They are fighting for survival from sec 0 till the end. There were many jumpscares and the movie is very suspenseful and filled with action and not predictable. Im saying this as someone who gets bored by movies easily.
i wanted to see the military vs alien story, not another solo people story on how to stay quiet, how did the army deal with this? what happens when an abram tank shell hits an alien point blank, what happens when a f35 bunker buster missile hits an alien? i wanted to see a proper fight vs the army....
Yeah I feel like that scene of those eggs/food source that the death angels were eating were just showing how they communicate with eachother or how they feast
Nah the aliens don’t eat any of their kills they only neutralize it since the high sound is very sensitive to them. But it seems like they eat what came from the astroids
I like the new one since i dont recall any written parts that make me feel it was a stupid way to die. For example the first movie had the kid set off his toy. Thought that was a dumb
She and her cat could have gotten to the boat, get to safety, eat some warm pizza, pass away and be buried somewhere. Now after aal that running, ducking an diving, she is being cut to piece, bodyparts all over the place
What determines hood and bad soind being that the alien 👽 makes more sound then ever, evan with simple steps, but they don't rush in until its a human.
Liked this movie alot it was cute and made me smile more than sad, but her going out from death by monsters, i spent the whole movie running from kinda sucked to me.
1. The first movie insinuated they couldnt see, but there have been plenty of scenes that show they can see just fine. 2. As many things as there are in a city that make noise, there are just as many things that can be used as weapons. We need to see a movie where humans try different things to kill them. Some things work, some dont. 3. Please dont bring Eric or the son from the other movies back for pt3. Backbone required. 4. We need to know WHY sound drives them into a kill frenzy. Still has not been explained. 5. Dont bring the cat back 😂 6. They have carnivore teeth, but eat a fruit like a herbivore??
While parts of it did disappoint me (kind of hoped for more destruction and alien lore, and Frodo the cat's plot armor got a little ridiculous at points), I thought Day One was still a good time, and its human story and themes hit harder than I expected. It makes me sad seeing so many people hate on it.
@user-on9yz2wz9q I think it's their way of terraforming the Earth so that they could thrive, would make sense considering we never see them eat people or other animals
For me this movie is hard to rate also spoilers on this comment probably so beware but I will say I really did like the movie like I cared for the characters and cried with the storyline that we were given for the characters however this movie is called day 1 and advertised as witness the beginning and so on and because of that I think the movie failed really bad like first off let’s start with a joke the movie didn’t even take place on day 1 well it did but a lot of it was on day 2 and 3 😂 anyways joking aside I hated how short the beginning of the apocalypse was like we get no military fighting back scenes like not even one shot at all, I wish they showed off how the humans realized the aliens are bullet proof and can’t swim, and I wish we got scenes of the military or the survivors trying to figure out what these and so on instead the aliens pop out and that’s it everyone accustomed to them instantly, and Henry was wasted like if your gonna do a prequel than make the guy who was in the past movie be the lead instead he was heavily sidelined and the cat was hella ridiculous like sure I don’t want to see a cat die but if the whole movie is trying to immerse you into the world than make the cat believable making noises and so on like either kill the cat which will suck or make it more believable with some noises and making our characters go through more tougher situations and shoot yall killed of those cute raccoons in the first movie so we know yall ain’t scared to kill cute animals 😂 anyways again being advertise as watch the beginning and how it happens was wrong and would makes this film a failure like they should of advertised this as a spinoff following random people and if they took this route than its easily a 8/10 film so again I do like the film but not as a day 1 movie
Things happened very fast. Mobilizing a military attack wouldn't have been immediate. Furthermore the very nature of that mobilization would require noise and we know what that means
Got me turned off at "captivating new characters" when character development was the weakest point of this film...with the exception of Lupita's work of course
After coming off of part 1 & 2 this movie felt like a cheap b-movie, i was really looking forward to this prequel...and even paid money to go see it in the theater. VOMIT

I dont get the ones saying it's boring. They are fighting for survival from sec 0 till the end. There were many jumpscares and the movie is very suspenseful and filled with action and not predictable. Im saying this as someone who gets bored by movies easily.
Great review of a great movie!
My favorite scene was the bar. That one scene made me cry
Very nice Breakdown of the movie. I do think one thing that you missed was the role that Frodo the cat played in the narrative of the story.
i wanted to see the military vs alien story, not another solo people story on how to stay quiet, how did the army deal with this? what happens when an abram tank shell hits an alien point blank, what happens when a f35 bunker buster missile hits an alien? i wanted to see a proper fight vs the army....
Great movie
I didjt need this to be the fault
In our stars blended into a “horror”‘movie.
Mortality not morality!
Mortality means facing your own death. Morality, means facing your morals, ideals.
Do the aliens eat the people or take them somewhere else because there were no bodies laying around. Why were the aliens eating an empty egg?
Yeah I feel like that scene of those eggs/food source that the death angels were eating were just showing how they communicate with eachother or how they feast
Nah the aliens don’t eat any of their kills they only neutralize it since the high sound is very sensitive to them. But it seems like they eat what came from the astroids
Why did the aliens come to the earth? What are some new things that we learned from this movie that connects to the others? Please say what u think
Yeah we getting a day two movie 😂😂
Expected more. Instead of aliens, we got “a hospice patient’s journey to die.” While I loved that concept, it was literally DRAGGED OUT.
She's facing her own 'mortality'.
I just knew not to watch it in theaters, it was boring lol
The Quiet Place video game will be out soon and it will be considered canon so we will hopefully get a chance to learn more about these aliens.
You never did a review for Rebel Moon Part 2.
I know you liked it.
It’s really not a bad death- a quick yell and a fast slice then you are a puddle
I like the new one since i dont recall any written parts that make me feel it was a stupid way to die. For example the first movie had the kid set off his toy. Thought that was a dumb
Eric is actually a god damn GIGA CHAD. Imagine finding someone in the middle of an apocalypse and you risk your life to GET THEM PIZZA??! Insane lmao
i want a part about how the abbot family survived in the first place.
She and her cat could have gotten to the boat, get to safety, eat some warm pizza, pass away and be buried somewhere. Now after aal that running, ducking an diving, she is being cut to piece, bodyparts all over the place
Hopefully Eric will return in 'A Quiet Place Part III' along with Frodo (cat)
It’s mortality!! Pet peeve but otherwise great synopsis
This movie was a fcking masterpiece
THEY SHOULD MAKE A GAME OF IT, IT WOULD BE GREAT GAME
Sam & Frodo, TLOTR😁
What determines hood and bad soind being that the alien 👽 makes more sound then ever, evan with simple steps, but they don't rush in until its a human.
This also tell us that Henry is a new Yorker 😂
So you skip the who egg food thing
it seems most vids are. im wanting to see more of THAT
@@Thonk6312 facts
@@Thonk6312 like what even do they do
7:41 and 8:30 i.e. mortality.
The aliens can survive in vacuum space without air and will not suffocate, but will drown in water due to lack of air.
That does not make sense.
5. Dont bring the cat back 😂
6. They have carnivore teeth, but eat a fruit like a herbivore??
I think you mean "Mortality" not "Morality", otherwise Great vid! 🙂
While parts of it did disappoint me (kind of hoped for more destruction and alien lore, and Frodo the cat's plot armor got a little ridiculous at points), I thought Day One was still a good time, and its human story and themes hit harder than I expected. It makes me sad seeing so many people hate on it.
Unfortunately I was disappointed and it could’ve been so much better… !!!
This movies is just another version of lord of the ring.
The lgbtq person with a cat saves the helpless white guy
What were the Aliens eating after communicating?
I feel like this was a really important scene!!
@@beasthercules5807 I watched a crap version but it looked like an egg they pulled out of a crater they had crashed into idk
Furthermore the very nature of that mobilization would require noise and we know what that means
it was just BORING.......3/10
why was there pt3 !?? it should've been made into
mini-series....not made to be played @THEATERS....!!!!
2:45 dude got some huge nostrils... ain't sharing my coke with him
So, the question still remains….where did the aliens come from? That would make a good movie too ?
If you need the ending explained then you’re in serious trouble for the rest of your life. Duh.
Where was the nukes
Am I the only one who thinks everything about the death angel doesn't make sense at all
Nah keep it a buck NY this shit was bootayyyy 😂
Got me turned off at "captivating new characters" when character development was the weakest point of this film...with the exception of Lupita's work of course
After coming off of part 1 & 2 this movie felt like a cheap b-movie, i was really looking forward to this prequel...and even paid money to go see it in the theater. VOMIT
She was dying and wanted pizza. The END
