One day, I couldn't find my Jack Russell in the backyard. How did he escape??? He climbed up the tree, jumped on the roof of my home. I found him on the roof, tail wagging and happy as can be...... Nothing like a JRT.
My JRT did exactly the same thing. She used to get on the roof to chase and fight neighborhood cats. I had to cut the branch that connected the tree to the roof. Crazy little mf, best dog ever.
These dogs are so loveable. They have so much character. They are strong willed, fearless and accurate to perfection in what they do. Very athletic dogs. If they were huge they would be more than amasing and out-smart any other dog. One of the most amasing dogs to have. Even for there size they still try to protect the property. Just love them so much and they are so cute to.
To anyone who's freaked out about Toby climbing this tree, don't be. Jacks were bred to be agile and very active. This kind of thing is what they do. Toby wasn't even up that high either. Given the chance, he'd of been all the way to the top. If you have never had a Jack, I would suggest reading up on them. They will amaze you. R.I.P Toby.
I don't care. He' could get hurt. There's a reason why people are concerned and why you wrote this post. It's dangerous and unnatural for dogs to climb trees. It's an eventual catastrophe.

Omg I miss my Jack Russell named Jas. We used to call her Houdini because she would ALWAYS escape our yard. Found out she knew how to climb fences and trees to get to our neighbors dog 😂😂😂.

Had a 65lb pitt that climbed trees, jumped in a pond & dove to the bottom to get a stick you'd throw, clear a 4ft fence & almost a 6ft one too. Krook but he had auto immune & left us last year. I have a JRT too & he climbs, jumps & mouses !!! I also have a ACD & you'd p in yer pants to watch all three run in n out the doggie door n around the yard n back in. All three of 'em always had fun n now there's just two. But soon I'll have three. Gettin' a black/white pit puppy. Toby is awesome !!! :-)
Bril!. We had a ferral cat come in our yard and tease our Jack Eddie and then bolt up a dead tree at the back of our yard and hiss at him out of his reach regularly. Did this for a year or so. A storm came through and the tree developed a 'lean'. The next time said cat came into our yard and teased him it bolted up the tree as usual to taunt him. Eddie was able to shoot up it and the cat 'shat' its self and had to try to get higher up. To this day I can still see that shocked cat going 'WTF?' Ed got bored and came down. Cat stayed in upper branches for over three hours. Never saw it again!. 🤣🤣 Never piss off a Jack Russel!. 🤣 Nuff said!.

I love how he does his look out up there, great for finding groundhogs I can imagine. Ours always is on top of something looking for em, or squirrels =) haha.

Aren't they fun? Iv'e got a 2yr old Parson Russel Terrier who lives to climb every tree in sight. He will go as high as he can possibly get. All it took was him seeing a squirrel run up a tree when he was a puppy. He is just same when it comes to swimming in the ocean, he charges! Search "Tree Climbing Parson Russel Terrier" to see mine fall and land like a cat!
