Stayed up about 4 hours past bedtime today playing a certain little indy game and this video is VERY thematic. She’s no Penny, Anno or Shekka, but alien wife is better than no alien wife
That must be some really sophisticated technology or spirituality and faith to just head over to a random planet and pursue one of the locals. It can't be randomly chosen because it sounds like the mating ritual is permanent, and I doubt they would just be ok spending the rest of their lives with an abusive partner. There isn't any concern over being rejected or the alien being abusive considering their ability and willingness to change their appearance and I would assume their personality to fit the tastes of their chosen one.

While this is an interesting concept for an alien species, I noticed a potential problem with how this species operates. If every single one of their kind goes through a "coming-of-age" ritual to be told who their soulmate is, and their soulmate is always a member of a species from another planet, and the species molds themselves to be able to reproduce with the species of their soulmate, then wouldn't this species, necessarily, die out as a result of not being able to generate offspring that are not hybrids? I mean, sure, their soulmates may come from their home planet, but the information presented implies that this isn't the norm. I like this audio, and I want to just immerse myself in the fantasy, but I can't help but keep thinking about how a species like this could never work since it would dilute itself to the point where it goes extinct.
