can someone explain to me why gene hunt doesnt go with them all to the railway arms to pass over. why would we want to stay now he knows hes in police purgatory and all his friends are now gone. and what will happen is he will forget again. although i must note, that they really are in the seventies and the eighties. for example sam manages to change the future, and it turns out some of sams actions in the seventies cop purgatory actually were part of his memories before he had the accident and time travelled. unfortunately though, time travel linearly along your own timeline like this is impossible. the paradoxes are protected. real time travel is very possible and is linked to the phenomena of retrocausality which doesn’t so much change the past but creates new, parallel universe copies of the past, which contain the identical result as if the past had been changed. this has been experimentally proven. it mainly involves using quantum mechanics to trigger the creation of the parallel universe copy of the changed past which has no connections to your original universe so no paradoxes are possible and you can change your local reference frame into a copy of the past. and you quantum translate there, just as every decision we make, and even every time atomic nuclei in our body decays reality splits into parallel branches thousands of times a second, in a process called decoherence in quantum physics. and the time travel would be very similar to decoherence, its instantaneous, it can't even be called 'travel'.

I saw your little description of "very shippy, very sad, very slow-mo" I got the ship bit cause well They're amazing together. The slow mo bits were just incredibly effective and I know i've seen every clip used before the tears didn't start till right at the end when Gene's on his own.
