One thing that you can do to get around one of the biggest weaknesses of the subclass is to use your homunculus servant to administer your potions which will only cost you your bonus action instead of your action.
On the experimental elixir I believe the idea was to roll for random on the freebee, but once you expend a spell slot you are able to choose. That’s just how it reads to me.
I've always played HP damage as, the last hit is what causes bodily damage. Everything else is either minor cuts and scratches and basic fatigue from dodging and deflecting the strikes.
I made a Goblin Wizard/Artificer. Pretty simple backstory. He was a Common Goblin that was smarter than average. He saw a picture of the Classic Wizard, robe, hat, magic books, tower, potions. To him that looked like the high life so he persues the Arcane and Potioncrafting to try and imitate the luxurious wizard instead of being a dung shoveler.
He's THE Healer and Support for the team and despite havi g 10 CHA, everybody likes him cause he feeds the poor for free.
Drinking a potion is normally a an action by raw but it's a come house rule to have it as a bonus action
Good job my guys. Love this show keep it going
Thank you, gentleman.
This video is not in the playlist.
Amazing episode as always =)
I made a Dr.Jeckle/Mr. Hyde, 3 levels alchemist and 6 levels barbarian, drinking rage potion as bonus action reflavor , with potion support for when under rage effect
For flavor, use customized Knight background and allow the retainers to be animated or clockwork servants (non combatants)
Recommend that the elixir doesn’t go into effect when drank unless unconscious. Allow character that drank the elixir to bonus action start anytime until the next long rest. Duration of the effect stays the same. Very useful especially for the healing elixir.
Concentration -free Bless for 10 minutes for one person is potent as heck! Give that to the GWM/SS user.
Dungeons and dragons rules kickass and badass love d&d best fantasy game ever made
I'd say it is a thematically fun subclass but very weak. I tend to enjoy using alchemists as DMPCs (and have done so to success as they give away all their potions and infusions to the players)
Someone please tell me theres a full version or at least a sound clip of the "shout out to demogorgon" from the short rest.
Alchemist needmore experimental elixirs at maybe 1tj a 3r and 4th at 16th or 17th. Also have to cast heal AND Greater restoration and either until SHORT rest or equal to intell Modifier. I am enjoying this class's.
Flu's reminding me of the book Perfume, only without the disturbing shit. (Born in stank, becomes a master of smelly chemicals). Fun character concept Brian!

EPISODE 300 IS UPON US GLORY TO THE DUNGEONCAST, thanks for mixing up another episode guys :)
I like homunculus servant to be in the form of animated gloves or animated cape (ala Dr. Strange)
Love you guys
Hey love you guys love your show for one of your next deities and demigods could you do Malar the Beastlord? Thanks for all you guys do keep up the great work.
They super messed up the alchemist.
Every artificer subclass was designed to have a built in and fairly potent bonus action.
WOTC got some bad feedback about the homunculus which was how the alchemist was designed to use their bonus action, and so the homunculus was removed.
But they just entirely removed the alchemists bonus action and didn’t replace it with anything. This has left a mechanical void in the very foundation of the subclass.
Trash.
I detect a fan of Sanderson on the show 👀
You detect correctly lol
That is awesome. Great homage to the man, have my upvote 👌
Oh hell didn't demongoregon
lich
Why is it an action? Because you can do it anytime after a long rest. Preferably long before you ever get close to combat. 🙄
Don't do it
A rather disappointing subclass. I reckon they should’ve gotten a d100 full of potions & poisons similar to the wild sorcerer.
Why is it that the potions don’t scale, that we are stuck making random potions like an assistant rather than a master brewer. This feels like a subclass that would’ve been in the PHB or SCAG with how lackluster it is.
RAW you can craft most potions in the DMG
Only the first Experimental Elixir is random, you can expend spellslots to craft specific Elixirs.
A couple of levels of Wizard, Cleric or Sorcerer for extra spellslots and then the Alchemist cooking with gas
