We all have our strengths. When I was taught to take notes in elementary school I was taught all sorts of shortcuts to just keep up with the flow of a lesson. Cutting out words, using symbols, arranging like ideas together. Because at the end of the day it always came back to how much you actually retained in your head so you could ace a test. Notes were just a way to help with that. Journals are supposed to help you be a better and happier player, so you can be present as an important member of the team. Because you are important. And having your head up more often, soaking in the memories of the moment are what you're going to care about years later.
I can't for the life of me figure out how you formated the section of your journal that has the character information from the hand book. It looks so good in your journal!
Thanks for the info. My wife and I play with our kids and we also have an adult game we started our DnD journals with the same books and try to make each of our characters' journals different and I love the layout you have for this. I also love doing the deeper background for character - family, birth, and those nice prompts from Xanathars guide and 3rd party character backgrounds

Everyone seems to really be enjoying their characters and I love that we get Ashley full-time! Fearne and FCG are so chaotic and I love it 😂
Oooh. I love this journal. I'm in the process of converting to a digital one on my ipad with goodnotes. I'll definitely be thinking of priortizing what I actually need versus trying to shove in everything I've seen in every other D&D journal. I just love watching content on D&D notes and journals. 😅 Picking a favorite CR character is TOUGH. I started with Campaign 2 but didn't finish it by the time campaign 3 rolled around, so I'm current with campaign 3 (and the EXUs. Calamity was AMAZING). I will always have a soft spot for Caleb and Beau, but I feel like since I haven't finished the campagin I shouldn't call them favorites which I know is dumb lol. But in campaign three, I think it is a three way tie (cop out much? lol) between Fearne, Imogen, and Laudna. But I love all the characters!
Oh I totally understand. I love watching aesthetic and artsy videos and often feel filled with inspiration to try everything! (Or buy everything 😅) Moderation in all things is important though. 😌 I've actually been thinking of experimenting more with goodnotes journaling! I got an ipad last year and wow, it was a game changer in my life.
I don't think I could pick a favorite CR character; each time I think of one I think of why I love the others as well. I love the Graveyard idea, especially in the longer games. I used to keep notes digitally but since bullet journaling in my everyday life I find I'd rather write things out.
I think next I might actually experiment with a digital sheet. I've never done it, but I have an iPad now. It's always worth experimenting to learn more about yourself and what works best for you. :3 Even if I end up going back to physical paper, I'll probably learn and create things along the way I can share here.
🤍 My Favorite CR character's are Jester and Laudna. I love all the info you added to your journal. I've added a few things when I made my journal from your list.
Glad to find a kindred spirit. I'm the same way. Was a bit worried because I have so many people in my life that are more into short form content, but I just sometimes want to put on one long video essay and enjoy it lol.

Your D&D journal is so cute. I've been wanting to make my character a journal like this so this has been super helpful! I recently finished campaign 2 in CR. I honestly can't pick a fav but Caleb has a special place in my heart. I love me some sad boi action haha
Oh yay! 😊 I'm glad you find it helpful! It is hard to pick but for campaign 2 my soft spot is for Caduceus. :3 He has a soothing way about looking at the world.
I've never DM'd, but I did ask my DM for his thoughts. Unfortunately it comes down to an instinct or "feel" for most people. He does use an encounter calculator, but those are more reliable before level 8-10 and work under the assumption of ~5 encounters a day which few parties actually do. And the XP budget doesn't account for monster abilities vs party abilities which often change the difficulty drastically and come down to the DM knowing the party. (A bloodhunter and druid scouting ahead and encountering bodaks vs when the whole party face them with a paladins aura of courage. for example.)
Thanks! It's easy to do :3 just takes a little time. I actually picked up another of these journal binders for personal use. Though I haven't gotten around to being decorative with it yet...
I'll potentially try it with the Pathfinder campaign. My notes will probably be mostly digital but I think I'll keep at least one notebook for my character.
