@@NikosAnimals I'm so sorry your Wood Pigeon disappeared!! There is a flock of Rock Pigeons nearby and they constantly hang around my parking lot. I feed them every day at least one. There are 25-40 any given day. Some are tame enough to eat from my hand but not enough to allow this much attention without food. There is one white one, who is more tame than all of them. She just appeared one day and, now about 6 months later she (I don't know for sure the sex but I just started calling her she) comes to me to be fed by hand, balances on my hand and allows me to pet her. I had a tame black one 3 years ago, but after several months he "disappeared".I know it's inevitable since they are completely free. I am just so curious about where she came from. She doesn't have a bracelet. She is fully in sync with the flock.
Not showing up for 3 months is surely a red flag. But you never know, he may have found a mate. Also, you would have found his body somewhere close, they usually don't fly off very far. There is also a chance some other human took him if he was friendly to everyone. You could ask around with your neighbors.
@NikosAnimals This is why I try to discourage people from making wild prey animals too tame for their own safety. They will fall victim to people who dislike them, vandals, hunters, cars, or Dogs or Cats. When a wild animal loses its' fear of people, it also loses some or all of its fear of anything larger than itself. This Woodpigeon may have been a handreared orphan or nest fallout, or it may just be an unusually tame and friendly bird. Either way, it likely paid with its' life for being too trusting. Again, Woodpigeons are prey animals whose only defenses are caution and escape. Please think about the safety of your avian friends before you try to fully tame another. Thank you.
@NikosAnimals Why not feed them without trying to tame them? Are the other Woodpigeons that you feed but which are still cautious with people still well nourished? When I was a child, most Woodpigeons were birds of open wooded areas, and rarely nested in cities. If you pointed a stick at a Woodpigeon flying towards you, it would usually suddenly swerve away in response. They were also very likely to abandon their nests if disturbed by people. A decline in hunting and an increase in Human feeding are the two most important reasons why Woodpigeons now thrive near and around cities. They still have many enemies, Human and otherwise. People still hunt them, and people still kill them as 'pests'.
unfortunately we haven’t seen him for three months so presume the worst 😢😢

Lol you're essentially getting it off. As in literally asking for snu in its language.
?
@@NikosAnimals You're stroking it on the erogenous zones of most avian species. You should try to stick to the head.
@@smukase dang, which areas? >
@@NikosAnimals lol no worries, it's always funny to see. Most of the chest area and back, basically where ppl tend to stroke 🤭
