caffèlatte is the correct translation. Unfortunately, the drink has been wrongly popularized by non-Italian coffee chains.
Same as pepperoni which roughly translates with bell peppers in Italy.

Ciao Ella, I hope you and Dave get a chance to visit my former place in exile for 2 years, Verona. If so, highly recommend City Center, Valpollicella wine region and a day trip to Lake Garda - some super cafes, eateries and wine bars in the towns along the shore. If so, I can recommend some great restaurants if you like seafood, or pizza or pasta. buon viaggio :)
