- In the 10 years since the release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the beloved film has only grown in popularity, as well as relevance, and serves as a story about consequences, and a relevant lesson in, among many other things, the consequences of both good and bad leadership.
Today, I'm here to breakdown those very aspects of this now decade-old blockbuster, and why I think it remains just as powerful, and as relevant, as ever.

You always have such a profound and impactful way to explain the characters in these new films excellently. And I'm eternally grateful for your contributions.
Thank you!! I try my best
@@Ape-Nationyou’re welcome! As we all should.
My favorite, so timeless
I love the nostalgia it gave me when Cesar goes back to his childhood house, well I love the whole movie and part 3 it's dark and cold and I love how they brought back coba haunting Cesar
Koba will remain one of the greatest movie villains of the 2010s.
you been spoiling us with more ape content this month and im all in for it‼️
This is easily my new favorite TH-cam channel. Great to see you diving all in on a franchise that deserves it
Thanks for watching!
Koba is such a badass villain.
the lesson of the day is keep your friend's close and your enemies closer
💯💯
Reference to The Godfather Part II. When Michael says the iconic line, "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."
10 years on the CGI is better than some movies today. This and How To Train Your Dragon 2 were the best movies to come in 2014!
interstellar?
I love those type of villains who start of as the hero's close friend like with Rick and Shane in Walking Dead or Magneto and Professor X, but because of different views on how to deal with survival it causes the friends to become enemies and that is so well executed with Caesar and Koba in Dawn.
The way he killed Rocket's son, and no really mentioned him after, bothers me. great video as always.
I get so excited seeing new uploads from you ❤
Appreciate you!! 🙏🏻
I love how well written these movies are!
Great video really enjoyed. would love to see a deep dive on some of these characters such as Ceaser and Koba
My favorite of the franchise. I loved seeing the ape colony in their prime, you know, before it all went to sh**. 😅
The movie novelization book is quite good as well.
I see a bright future for this channel considering the possibilities of more sequels from wes ball. DO MORE JOSH
Koba's villainous descent in Dawn is definitely well-written. While it doesn’t excuse his actions, we’re able to understand and empathize Koba. At first, Koba’s motivation for his actions starts out as cynicism towards not only Caesar's goal in peace between both apes and human, but also the idea that the humans could be trusted, especially due to his experience of abuse from humans. But as the movie progresses after usurping leadership over the apes from Caesar, we see that Koba's motivation was really just for himself and to feed his undying, vengeful hatred towards humans. And he’s not above killing apes who defy him and are loyal to Caesar to achieve it, as exhibited when Koba killed Ash (Rocket's son) after he refused to kill a pair of humans due to his loyalty to Caesar.
Koba went from being Caesar's close brotherly ally/friend to becoming Caesar's evil counterpart, polar opposite, archenemy, and greatest enemy. He’s what Caesar would’ve become if Caesar wasn’t taken and cared for by his adoptive father Will.
I love your channel and thoughtful commentary.
I’ve always loved this franchise from the very beginning when I saw it in the theaters decades ago.
One thing I had wished was for Cornelia to have greater character development. She was his queen and it would have been nice to see her in this role.
I'm still bummed that Malcolm was killed by the colonel in between Dawn and War
do we actually know that? dont think the movie says
Great breakdown of the film. 👍 Maybe someday we could get a Koba vs. Proximas Caesar video similar to the Caesar vs. Caesar video we got recently.
Koba vs Zaius
@@andreoliveira191 hmm...I always viewed Zaius & Hasslein being more comparable they both are very similar, they both are doing "evil" things to ensure the survival of their species. Koba & Proximas Caesar however, are both out for power they don't truly care for Apes just their own personal gain in power.
Another great video! Love that movie.
My favorite 2014 movie
His left eye was also dead, so I assume he was not stronger than Caesar
Loved the new format. Keep it up!
Ngl ceasar watching the video of will and saying ‘ a good man’ is the only time I’ve cried during a movie.
It's one of my favorite moments of the entire trilogy!
Will there be a similar video about part 3?
