Used it on dirt but also as my commuter in town (college and part time job). I crossed a guy almost every morning in a Porsche 911. The first time, he did'nt want me to overcome him at a red light. Lost. Afterwhile, it was a clear, friendly challenge to who's would get to the other light. He was fast. I was even faster !!
Man, I loved this bike. Still miss it. But met THE girl but actually hated bikes. Maried her. No more bikes... :-(((
PS McQueen was, is my all time hero. Knew him first as a Bounty Hunter on a TV show. I was soooo impressed by this hyper cool guy. I asked and finally got a Winchester look alike air rifle. I WAS McQueen, complete with the hat !

Rode these vintage Husky's when they competed with the likes of Greeves. They were not easy to ride in the kind of mud found in Western Oregon because the steering head angle was extended which was very steady at high rates of speed but difficult to turn. Turned to CZ, then Maico for MX bikes through the 70's then went desert racing and moved to Idaho. Husqvarna from then on. The 500XC was the bike for sand washes and wide open dry lakes (100 plus) with the 6 sp. The 430 for the mountains, the 250 mx meh., light switch power you could not hang onto, or none at all.

I had a 1969 Husqvarna 360 desert cross bike. and it was almost , to this bike. except it had a larger yellow fuel tank. when I first got it I believe 13 or 14 years old and it was too much bike for a kid my age. and I couldn't wait to grow into it. and at first I couldn't start it so I'd push it down the street to my neighbors house. so he could start it for me. and of course I would have to let him ride it a little bit before I could go riding it. I wasn't able to reach the ground with my feet by about an inch or two. so I would have to take off with the bike leaned over and push off with with the one leg. and then pull the bike up right. and when I was done riding I woul lay it down gently. eventually I grew into it. and I had that bike for a long time and rode the hell out of it.

That time of KTM assimilating every competitor in european endurance motorcycling might not draw sympathy in retrospect, but the LC4 powerplant was just out of this world back then, and, in the end, it saved Husqvarna and Husaberg from the experience of sudden death back then.

I had a yellow tank 1976 Husqvarna 125. It pulled better than any bike that was made in 1980. My friend had a brand new RM 125. We both had 22 hp., but he could just floor it and handle everything with ease with the suspension set up and narrow bike. The Husky was longer and heavier. You had to really ride it. It was thrilling and made me a better rider for sure. I miss that bike! Great video!

Got my first Husky from Malcolm Smith...a 250cc Heiki Mikkola bike setup by non other than Rolfe Tiblien from the Husky race shop....still have it, and it still runs.
Raced in the DeAnza league in Riverside CA back in the day going pro before winding up in the military.
Thought about restoring it, but for now she still has all the battle scars.

I'm looking for a mechanic to work on my 1975 360, please let me know if you know anyone in the bay area, or any surrounding counties!
Beautiful bikes, I've won many vintage races,
Knock on wood, have never layed it down!
These days it sits in storage with a broken rod, would love to see it running again,
    Thankx
