It's funny that Ram Dass was/is a big speaker but people are reluctant to speak big in his channel's comment zone here. I get a lot from Ram Dass, he's probably my go-to man for deepest human wisdom and understanding. You know, I wonder what Gen-Z younger people think of him and what he says. I'm convinced that human society follows a roughly 40-year masculine/40-year feminine social cycle (yin/yang), and I see 2020-2060 as the next yang period. We obviously experience some grand social cycles. But there is something new here. The world didn't have a global personal (physical) communication matrix until this time around. That's going to change Gen-Z and everybody who comes after. I see younger self-exploring people having to confront a global singularity. That's something different from what Ram Dass and Neem Baba Karoli were talking about in the 1960s, when there was still transcontinental diffusion going on by individual global travelers. People are pretty deterministic right now. I couldn't imagine spending one second with current folk in a self-exploration scene (like one of these high school auditorium talks that Ram Dass gave for decades). We would tend to rebuke ourselves for serving Oneness instead of the economy or the more profane quietude (the passive meditation of a subject population rather than the active meditation of a realizing population). Anyway, more things said and unsaid...
@@worldtocome i’m gen z actually. i can’t speak for others but i agree about the internet fostering a constant global awareness, especially for the current youth who haven’t known a world without the internet being so central to society. i know in my immediate connections, people are becoming increasingly conscious, and even for those who will not awake for decades, numerous seeds have already been planted. the internet is a near instantaneous amplifier of ideas. i think the challenge will be in balancing the high velocity of information with the necessity of actually slowing down, inhabiting the body, and integrating. i’m excited for more forms of meditation to emerge that are more immediately accessible to younger people who’s minds move very quickly. slowing down and noticing the signals of the body, i think that’s where globally-informed action thrives. falling into biological harmony, just as our individual cells move in harmony to form something greater: organelles, tissues, organs, a body, population, ecosystem, etc. our bodies hold the wisdom of *how* to integrate the knowledge

I'm trying to contemplate your biological description. I was steeped from youth into the humanistic "human life G.O.A.T." thinking, then transitioned into that shrewd determinism of 20 or so years ago. I literally need to meditate on that concentric build-out you describe. That's my own work.
When Ram Dass/Richard Alpert started his spiritual journey in the Sixties I was just born. So I got to know him a bit later and at first I thought well, I'm more interested in his Guru Sri Neem Karoli Baba as it had more "appeal" for why study the Student before the Master ? It later turned out to me that for the few of us that were not born enlightened it is of quite a most crucial importance to listen to the experienced real Student - after some decades of suffering just to recognize the plenty of pitfalls one went in of course....😋 Like listening and recognizing "ooh sure, went into that one too"... Because for the few of us not yet born enlightened the real Student is a crucial part of the Answer of HOW to ever get where the Master was - and it sure isn't the EgoCopy of the Master....😋 But Hell is a great & and in a weird sense kind Teacher even when at times it may squeeze a flood of tears out of your eyes for decades without much pause & mercy for Denial.... My deep Tribute to RamDas, Krishna Das, Maharaji & so many more for all help & honesty & all real Sharing.... Thanks my Friend....😘🙏❤️ And my deep Respect & Compassion for the Flood of Tears from the Atonement to At Onement inside each & everyone melting down all our Denials of Hell & Suffering....🙏 May we ALL be free one day.... sincerely I hope that one still distant day we All can bear witness to another World....And Hey,....till then just surrender together with me all your Tears & Pain to the Supreme Love of all Existence as we individually & collectively walk one day at a time out of all of our Hells....😘🖐️🙏 Because you see - the final real Promise is this : Love is not a petty Thing.
