Tie TV - Paolo's Articulated Double Tail (Pike Fly Tying)

In this episode pike fly tying tutorial, Niklaus Bauer will show us how to tie "Paolo's Articulated Double Tail" - a variation on one of Paolo Pacchiarini's favorite patterns. It swims like a game changer when you fish it roly-poly but if you fish it with short hard pull’s, it kicks side to side like nothing else.
Hook: Ahrex TP610 #4/0 main, Ahrex TP610 #2/0 Tail
Glue: Zap a gap brush on, Gulff UV resin - thinman, Flexman
Eyes: Predator Eyes 8mm Fl. Orange
Thread: Power tread 100D - White
Connection: Partridge Bauer Pike leader wire 40LB, Articulation Beads 6mm - Silver and Sparkle Fl. Orange
FC -0,60mm (40lb), fastatch size 0, 2mm articulated bead.
Tail: Double Tail XL Copper
Rear hook: Bucktail - White, Hedron flashabou pearl dyed olive and Polarflash Gold, Palmer Chenillemedium - Pearl
Front Hook: Bucktail - White and olive, Hedron flashabou pearl dyed olive, Ripple ice fiber in Light, Olive, Palmer Chenille medium - Medium olive
Head: Titan dubbing - Sunset

Great looking fly, ripple ice fiber is by far my favorite tying material (minnow mix is killer!), it looks like your titan dubbing already has it mixed in so that's just great! I much enjoy the underwater footage, I love how these flies are almost weightless in the water. Maybe I will catch my first 100+ cm pike on the fly using one of these bad boys...

Great tie. With some different colours this fly would work well on our pelagic trout in Lake Crescent, Tasmania. We have Golden Galaxias, which the bigger trout love to feed on. This comment is probably too late to get one for my fly box though 😁
