I endeavour to remedy the non engaging clutch in my AC system. Here’s part 1 of the full story if yer interested…SX4 Condenser Replacement & Other Issues • SX4 Condenser Replacem...
Found a clutch assembly kit on Amazon for $80. Replacement took about 5 hours (amateur, home handy idiot), but would have not been possible without your video! Saved tons! Thanks for taking the time to show us how!
@@TheGibby3340 Finally the magnet clutch is kaput (.8 ohm....). Do you have a part number for the one shown in your video or any other advice or reference? It looks exactly the same as the one I have to replace. Model year I have is a 2008 SX4. Best!
The clutch coil was purchased through EBay. Be aware, I am quite sure the 2010 model is a different style compressor from that detailed in the video (2007-2009’). Thx for watching 🍻
Thanks. I have never dealt with the shaft seal. In all honesty this went sideways two weeks later. If yer interested th-cam.com/video/iFWYvj-sykg/w-d-xo.html
Great job mate....top tip for ya...if you have a blower or even a box fan will work its good practice to blow are over the condenser while checking charge levels gives a more accurate real readings... not needed with a high side charge maching but doing can charges like we do it really helps.
Thank you. This fixed one of our cars but on mine it is now blowing the fuse every time the clutch engages. We didn’t see a shim when we took my compressor apart, but might have lost it. Unplugged fan and still blows fuse. Any suggestions for diagnosing?
You could check the coil resistance. I think the spec is in the video (around 4 ohms if I recall). If the check is done from the relay it will also check the integrity of that length of harness. I am sure you are aware it is the two wire fan which is the condenser fan. (Single speed). Of course a simple test light down at the coil connector will confirm feed.
I'm got an 08 sx4, crankshaft position sensor code is throwing. Also the two lights for AWD are light up and no reaction, any ideas on starting trouble shooting for the AWD?
Thx for watching. I am not sure I follow your point... After a condenser change (leaking) and recharge. The compressor would not engage due to the coil also being open circuit. Cheers 👍
@@TheGibby3340 as i said i thought i was in same position being stupid, but i didnt need to change the compressor as it was the low pressure trip that stopped the clutch engaging. I wasnt aware the car had such a thing lol
Great video and about to attempt this myself! Can I ask where you purchased the replacement clutch from? I'm seeing a couple aftermarket ones on Amazon for a good price but I wonder about quality.

Thanks for your video, very very helpful. Just replaced the compressor pulley bearing and resealed the magnetic coil. 👍

Hmmm…I’ll have a think on that! Thx Johnny. Cheers Pal 👍
I hadn't seen one of those pulley holding tools before, cheers Matt 👍

I had a similar problem with my ac clutch however it does have a low pressure cut off which i found out and after recharging it works great.
