I assume there was a total of 48 of those to do. I think those are the packing wheels. Good Job.

I did 8 rows with Furrow Cruisers, 8 rows of Dawn Curvetines, and this 8 rows of Yetter Twisters. I'm going to see how they all perform this planting season and compare them!

@@JamaicanFarmer well what kind of results did you see between the different closing wheels?

@@brentpetsch8366 The conditions this past spring were almost as perfect as you could hope for! Not enough difference in emergence to make a determination. I have someone that's analyzing the yield data, but haven't heard back yet.
      Thanks for your question!

What do the closing wheels do? What do the big teeth do for you?

The disk openers open a slot in the soil, there is a seed tube in between them where the seed falls into the trench. The closing wheels close the trench by pinching the open trench back together. The big teeth will help close the trench from the bottom up, and not leave any air pockets around the seed. Seed to soil contact in important, you want moist (not wet) soil all around the seed, and not an open trench to the surface. We plant corn at 2.5" deep, and soybeans anywhere from 1" to 2" deep, depending on how deep we have to go to find moisture. Different conditions sometimes call for different closing wheels. I do a lot of No-Till, into undisturbed soil, and it can be more difficult to close the seed trench with the standard rubber tire closing wheels.
      GREAT QUESTION!

And what’s the hammering/ticking in the background?

That is my electric fence. It sends a pulse every time it clicks! If you grab the wire, you will understand better! 😉😅
