Mr. Schneider, Can you please do a video on how to dress older than you are in the summer? It’s quite challenging to dress older in the summer because in hot climates you find yourself wearing shorts with vibrant clothing that is perceived as immature.
Aidan W.C. It’s not so much dressing older but dressing well- wear a linen shirt, polo shirts etc and stay away from flip flops in most circumstances. I recommend boat shoes or converse
I’m a high school teacher in my mid 20s and I have a very youthful face. Partially for that reason I wear penny loafers, chinos, OCBDs, V-neck sweaters, and sport coats to work. I do occasionally go casual on Fridays and I’ve been mistaken for a student on a couple of those occasions.
What’s more important than the clothes, treat everybody with more respect. Even if you are speaking with someone who likes different styles, maybe more youthful, than you don’t look down on them and consider yourself more refined and mature. Everyone is at a different stage in life and has their own mix of likes, appreciate them for who they are and set the example for others to do the same to you.
As a teenage aspiring filmmaker one of my heroes is the legendary writer-director Orson Welles (Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil, Catch-22). He was a 16 year old in the 30s but wore proper suits and smoked cigars in an attempt to look 5 years older - after his parents died he went to Ireland and managed to get a job as a theatre actor after blagging that he was successful and famous in Europe. They didn’t believe him but liked his courage, they hired him for a minor part, then the rest is history! I’m no Orson Welles, and you can’t really blag that kind of thing - but wearing good suits never hurt I suppose!
I became a college professor when I was 24 years old. The next youngest colleague in my department was 36. My first year, I was constantly getting mistaken for a student. I was trying to find every way possible to look older. I usually did it by dressing more formally and more seriously than my colleagues, many of whom would wear jeans or shorts and flip-flops.
I secretly respect no man wearing sweat pants or a jersey. Even if I must be kind to them. It just looks gross and makes a person look shallow. Also the comments on speech and the cell phones are spot on.

Yep, proper grammer, that happened. But aside from that I don't think a three piece suit or a double breasted suit are appropriate in most situations nowadays, especially for younger men, they might give the wrong impression of being arrogant, cocky or just trying too hard.
As a young man of only 18 years old I prefer slim fit pants because I believe that they suit me better than wider fit pants. Obviously it’s just a preference but it’s probably due to my rather slim physique. Do you reckon I should opt for more wider cut suits?

I find it annoying personally. Ive had people call me professor because Im wearing cordoroys, a brown jacket and an umbrella. I personally find it to be derogatory since they usually say it to be mean. Some people are pleasent, some people assume Im from the richest place in the area, but then when I start speaking and say im from a morr average location and that my clothes are 2nd hand then they can relate ro me. Given that UK is one of the most classest societies ever, then its no wonder why I have so many mixed comments. I assume in the US its more lenient.
If a younger man wants to look older ditch the facial piercings and lay off the look at me tats...... dead give away your a kid or lack self control. Another thing ditch the baggy pants and avoid the I just woke up from bed look. I'm in my late 40's and ladies in their 20's are attracted to men that don't have the bad boy rocker look, remember we must all grow up at some point can't be 20 forever and that is why younger women are attracted to older men, sorry but thats the truth.
They love the dapper look. I've had many different dress styles throughout my life. Ladies younger than 20 love the rugged athletic rulebreaker streetsmart streetwear look and ladies in their 20s love the dapper office career guy dress style. This may have something to do with the fact that the dominant guys in high school and middle school were the jocks and the brooding confrontational rule breaking "bad" guys. After high school and college, the dominant guys are the career guys that climb the ladder. At work, you only need to be a rung or two above her and she will excuse 10-20 years of age difference.

If you look young and start wearing suits with hats and cufflings etc you might look like a boy who borrowed your fathers suit and you'll go from young to a child realy fast. Look up "TheReportOfTheWeek" on youtube (like the guy but still) Don't get me wrong I like this video (and just about everything this channel uploads) but take all of these pointers with a grain of salt.
I think that's because the style Raphael presented in the videos are not best suited for the young men. Light Grey Windowpane and Dark Navy suits look great on older men but these are colors a young man can hardly carry. Personally, a Blue Tic, a Medium Grey Sharkskin, or a Navy Windowpane suit are much better for the young men. Hats and cuff links are situational. when I am wearing a double-breasted suit, I usually go full out and pair myself with a fedora and a pair of silver cuff links. When I am just wearing a blazer or sports jacket, I will pair myself with a flat cap, a boater in the summer, and simple barrel cuffs. At the end of the day, it all comes down to complimentary layering. Raphael is by no mean a young man. His style bracket is beyond the thirty-year-old and too mature for the younger generation. Speaking from personal experience, when complimented properly, a young man can look like an old timer without being deemed out-of-time. I am 20 BTW.

Good tips. I look older when wearing grey. I like the chukka/ cord combination in your outfit. The tie pattern is one of my favorites but hard to come across. I have two green polka dot ties slightly different. Always looks great.
I'm quite traditional, I care about how I present myself, I care about friends and avoid gossip. My friends however, they do care about eachother but often thrive off of drama and would rather be cool than proper
At one point I have to disagree. A baby face wearing a beard as the ones shown makes you a messy baby face. Stop that beard thing. A nice and clean shaved face looks 100% straight forward.

I hate when people use Mature and older interchangeably. You can look old by growing out a ton of facial hair and not shaving but that doesn't make you look mature. I love Wine and allow me to use wine as an analogy. When we say we age wine. We arent really look for old wine because old wine can be wine that is just old and that is it. It might taste bad or past its prime. Old usually synonymous with deterioration and development or complexion We use the word Mature because the wine is no longer a child the wine became developed and complex and ready for consumption. A matured wine can be 5,10,20 or 30 years old. Same as a person or in this case a man. You never aim to look older. You aim to look classy, timeless, and mature. You can be 20 and dress like a 20 year old mature man, respectable and trustworthy. You can also be 50 years old and dress like a 40 year old late career matured man. The key to not look too immatured or too outdated or in my wine analogy(past prime) is to dress in a classical way and timeless. The other understated thing I wish people emphasize more is to be confident. The reason wearing classic mens wear seem so daunting is because it's intimidating, and yes it's you wanna wear that intimidation. People should see you as mature and intimidating.
I really shouldn't be watching this. When I was 16, my mom said I was 16 going on 36. I'm 38 now, and, depending on who you ask, I'm anywhere between 40 and 400 years old.
I have to disagree with the smart watch comment. As long as you have a classy band on your smart watch and the screen doesn't constantly stay on and isn't too bright when it is on, I don't see a problem with them. I actually prefer mine because if I get a text or phone call I can quickly check to see if it's important. With a glance I can see if a phone call needs to be taken and if so I can simply ask to be excused, Step away and take the call. They also allow for easy hands free calls while driving.

Well, remember- gentlemen in the context of appearing older. I wouldn't sport the look myself but the undercut look was popular during some times of te hight of mens clothing at the earlier part of the last century. And while that might be true, the look has become popular with younger generations now and at the moment, the undercut will not help others see you as older, even if it is still gentlemanly

When it comes to suits I only ever wear a 3 piece suit or double breasted, they’re far more visually appealing than a standard 2 piece suit

I have to disagree with the smart watch comment. As long as you have a classy band on your smart watch and the screen doesn't constantly stay on and isn't too bright when it is on, I don't see a problem with them. I actually prefer mine because if I get a text or phone call I can quickly check to see if it's important. With a glance I can see if a phone call needs to be taken and if so I can simply ask to be excused, Step away and take the call. They also allow for easy hands free calls while driving.

Well, remember- gentlemen in the context of appearing older. I wouldn't sport the look myself but the undercut look was popular during some times of te hight of mens clothing at the earlier part of the last century. And while that might be true, the look has become popular with younger generations now and at the moment, the undercut will not help others see you as older, even if it is still gentlemanly
