AMAZING! I wish I was handy. I have my grandparents’ 1940s tv that my uncle gutted years ago. There is no back, bezel, knobs or anything. I have been using it to display seasonal scenes, but many times people don’t even know it was once a tv.
This is so awesome! If you ever decide to sell them, i’d love to buy one, either a kit or assembled! I’ve been looking, for one, which is how i came upon your video. If i only had the skills and the tools, i’d do this full time. So cool!
Seeing your creative idea come to life is very inspirational. Of course, not everyone has the gifts that you have, yet, nevertheless, good job on your creativity.
You could probably convert a already existing console TV into a vintage one and probably put a 32 inch into it and if you wanted to do away with the vintage knobs you might be able to fit a 43 inch into a vintage TV case. You would have to totally rebuild the front of it but if you had all them professionally tools like this guy you probably could. But that is only a dream because not many people could afford a saw bench and all the other wood working tools. Thank you for the awesome video.
This is awesome! It's inspiring me to do the same. I do have a question - is there a way to get a number pad on the TV cabinet and a pull on twist dial for power and volume? That would complete the illusion for a TV I want to recreate from my own childhood.
tip. it will look more retro if you curve glass on the front. use lexan plastic and mend it or melt it over a mold. just a gradual bubble. not enough to distort the image. and if you really get creative etch the lexan on the edges so it is slighly opaque.
OMG, this is sick dude, I got to try this as a DIY project. Just one thing I know I have no right to say how you should work, but at 1:16, be careful with that sawdust man. Its fine at the time but years down the line, your going to end up with lung and breathing difficulties. At least a mask, goggles or some dust extractor will help keep you, maker of brilliant things healthy!
So how can this method be used for rehousing a CRT tube from the 2000s (the ugly/boring all black or silver ones)? That's what I want to do, i don't like flat screens so i don't have one.
I guess I will have to try this instead I bought an old TV chassis that had no inner it’s a 1949 Zenas Royal R and I had thought about retrofitting it with a Roku TV internals but I could just build this instead
beautiful! I just wish you could make a video a bit longer so viewers could admire the work more. Your video deserves more views ! Keep it up! (hopefully)
These should be made for tablets to fit into aswell I'm trying to find something now and theres nothing anywhere other then a crappy cardboard box old fashioned tv for mobiles to be magnified. I want a proper old tv style like this and bluetooth speaker inside so the tablet can be like a proper tv 🤞🤷♂️
Dunno if anyone cares at all but last night I hacked my friends Instagram password using Instaplekt. Cant link here so search for it on google if you care
I did a console RCA 1954 type shape with a 15" monitor tv screen years ago. I put on living room. Now I want to do a cabinet old tv shape for a 32 LG, but I have in mind wood no more than 5" of deep, I want a modern TV set how it would be today, not retro necesariely. And I want to add a border with rounded corners, but not like a old CTR screen, keeping the modernity. Christ Santiago Chile.
I see no way to message you.... I would love to buy one of these if you sell them. I need it for a play. I can't build it becaue I live in NYC and no workshop. (wish I could) Do you sell these? (without the monitor... it does not even have to be assembled.)
Its still possible to still find old 4:3 aspect LCD flat screen TV's from the early 2000's. You would then need to get am HDMI to RCA converter to connect modern HDMI based devices like DVD player, cable boxes and streaming devices to the old TV. Also you will obviously lose the HD quality in the conversion and most of what you watch will end up letterboxed since the TV won't support 16:9. Of course some all pre-2000's TV shows (and some early 2000's as well) will display properly since they are 4:3. And older DVD movie media for which many films were released in your choice of 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios would display perfectly.

I would love to get my hands on a kit! This is so awesome, I've been looking for something like this forever.
Ohhh so it means I m not the only crazy person with different ideas in my mind I am feeling relax now 😊

Well done. Great design.
This is GORGEOUS and I would love to do something like it one day bc I miss the look of old sets :)
I miss my old wooden box TVs. It had all the dials and knobs.
Old tvs were so awesome. They were real pieces of furniture, not just black squares on the wall
@grathouse54
On the TV we had decoration pieces and figures with a fine cloth.
Looks so cool 👍
Thank you!
I would like to order 4 of these please lol, really creative! great work!!
"Wow! You must be rich!" (Back to the Future)
Great video
Very cool.....I would one day like to make a small one for my kitchen table. Maybe with a 10 inch or smaller screen and a raspberry pi.

I originally wanted to convert an old tv, but the old tvs were mostly in 4:3 aspect ratio and modern tvs wouldn't fit.
Great video nice looking job, mind you with all the gear you have it helps with the results 👍👍👍
Verry nice job
Super cool and awesome 👍🏻

You can machine glass to make a curved glass front. Polish until clear.
I've never tried to machine glass before, but it would definitely look awesome
I was wondering why someone doesn't sell something like this. I love retro tv design.. Someday I'll try to make my own version.. ♥
JUST BUY A OLD CRT LOL
@@BlondieHappyGuyA company can make different retro designs and put tablets inside. Sold with or without tablet.

I been looking to do this with an iPad mini but to hide some speakers in it like a hidden bass box
Excelente trabajo 😮
Whats with the green vinyl on top, not sticking to surface?

Oh my gosh, him feeding the wood through the table saw with only his hands 😥
Estou querendo fazer uma mas com a tela proporcional às antigas televisões crt
Would you sell the kit? (Everything but the TV?) please let me know. Thanks!
I wish he would. I would glue it all together myself. 😁
if he sell it, I bet he would be millionaire already.

i would also love to buy the kit from you but would you be able to customize it? im willing to pay extra for customization please let me know.

Christ Santiago Chile.
Did you have a stencil you used? I want to make a similar tv out of gingerbread and can't find a stencil online.
I didn't have a stencil, I just designed it on the computer. A gingerbread TV sounds awesome
I want a frame for my tv!
How much would it cost for the tools to do that?
I see no way to message you.... I would love to buy one of these if you sell them. I need it for a play. I can't build it becaue I live in NYC and no workshop. (wish I could) Do you sell these? (without the monitor... it does not even have to be assembled.)
Verry Nice
Anyone have any ideas or where to get a kit to build this kind of TV?
Do you have any digital, blueprint, and tv blueprints?
Cool
Can i get the template please
Do you have an overall spec sheet for this build?
Thank you.
It looks more like an microwave than a television. Especially since the picture format in the 1950s was 4/3 and not 16/9.
You have to adapt bro..
I actually wonder why you didn't put any legs on this TV build... The base will eventually get all scratched up.
At one point during the video I wanted to put a burrito in it and set it at 4!
Looks good
:( I wish I could commission you for all the cut outs so I could just glue them together
Hi can you sell this? Please send me a link for payment
you should make more videos
You can do anything if you got money.
bro please god buy a little pusher thing for your table saw.

Est ce qu'il serait possible de vous commander l'ensemble du bois adapté à ma télévision pour pouvoir l'assembler chez moi ?

Por favor
yer wiring is a bit suss....but other than that a great job
oh, he cheated.... he was suppose to disassemble the plastic chassis and mount the actual guts into the wood case... then it would be awesome...
I'm gonna guess that you are a Pisces.
Lcd on a strange case. Pass
Looks like a microwave
just buy a old crt
my god, that's gorgeous! dude, your work is awesome. any chance you'll do something like that but with old aspect ratio (4:3) LCD ? would be great
