In 1979, I listen to WWDC am1260 with Linda Kelly from 6am to 10am. I don't remember who did 10am to 3pm. Lu Katz did 3pm-7pm he went to q107 then wash FM later in life. Then Marty Dempsey was from 7pm to 11pm I think. Marty did more classic rock late in the evenings. I lived in Silver Spring MD, I went the Oakview pool near St Camillus catholic school. I went to Springbrook. I had a Some Place Special t-shirt and bumper sticker. Then in 1979, Q-107 WRQX was creeping up on FM. WWDC am1260 studio was on Connecticut Ave NW Washington DC along with WWDC FM DC101. Both shared the studio. I wanted to be a disc jockey back then. I'm 56 now so life has really flown by. Radio is not the same today with top 40s music. I am glad I found this youtube link to Am1260, WWDC. I remember the radio format and I hear Lu Kats on the commercials with the am1260 staff did and Marty Dempsey as well on commercials. I hear Marty Demspey at 7:12 here. I miss those days. I was 13 years old in 1979. I thought I could live forever back then. I had a good time in those days. Anyways for those who remember listening to this station, please do comment. I like to hear what you guys remember hearing on this station in the late 1970s.
Based on the Washington Redskins Monday night 27-0 win referenced in the aircheck, the date of part of this aircheck would have been Tuesday, September 18, 1979. The AM jock mentioned it was a Wednesday, which would’ve been September 19, 1979… not 1978.
