  • 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’ has been undergoing an extensive restoration, it was launched back into steam on September 9th after some 36 years in storage / restoration. It ran previously from 1979 to 1986 after its original restoration from Barry, this being at the Severn Valley and on mainline runs.
It is seen here on the late afternoon of 16th September 2022 on its 2nd day of public operation at the Severn Valley at Kidderminster and Bewdley. It was working the 1640 from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth but prior to departure it is seen being ‘turned’ and also then taking water and completing its run round.
Also seen is 43106 which was working a ‘local’ train and visiting GWR mogul 9356.
At Bewdley 4930 is seen departing north and there is turn is a run to Kidderminster behind 1501.
Unfortunately it appears that Hagley Hall then set off some lineside fires en route to Bridgnorth which has resulted in its withdrawal from the rest of the autumn gala operation.

Welcome back Hagley, looking as good as you ever did. God bless the preservationists, young and old, through the generations
