I sometimes have actual nightmares about falling off the ride and getting mangled and twisted by these ^^ mechanics and wires and shark tracks under the ride!
someone actually did fall off the boat and that exact time the shark came ripped off his leg that ez with those teeth and he died later at the hospital true story creepypasta
Yep. 100% agree. Just like how they demolished/destroyed the original ORCA that was sitting in the backlot. Discraceful. Luckily Spielberg was able to salvage some pieces from it.
I remember when I was at Universal after the ride had just closed. I did one of those surveys that they occasionally have, and I made a joke saying they should throw them into the lagoon for a little show once in a while…
@@Sharkguy-tx7rx Actually happened to a guy, fell into the water in the middle of a ride in one of the deep areas where the sharks where kept. Said he saw the shark coming right for him and it traumatized his children. Ended up suing universal for a solid mil.
Everything is becoming 3D now. To build, fix and maintain a ride like this was probably very expensive. The thing is that 3D can't ever replace something like this. The smells, the slight risk involved in real flames shooting near you makes it actually dangerous and therefore exciting. If they do too much 3D motion rides someone will just create a motion pod you get strapped in. Choose your ride and enjoy without lines. You go to the beach to feel the sand and smell the water. See a sunset verses a VR sunset just is not the same. (Rant)
It’s hard to maintain things that sit under water for long periods of time. Weathering & erosion are very real. Balancing the pH of the water to prevent acidic corrosion on the metal, dealing with hydraulic fluid leaks, moving parts, etc.. It was definitely one of the most complex attractions ever built, but it delivered one hell of an experience.
Once upon a time live was pretty cool we had great films, great rides and lots of truthful people in power and on tv. Now it’s a shitshow literally a wall to wall total steaming pile what have kids got today a bunch of liars rainbow flags and fellas in drag
It is not a whole shark. It is a half shark. The reason this shark had a bit more body was because of the lunging effect at the end. The shark would shoot out significantly more than other sharks therefore it needed more body and skin to cover up more parts.
None of the sharks you see in the 1993-2012 version of the ride were full reconstructions. They were remade for the second iteration of the attraction. The full body sharks are from the first, unsuccessful version of the ride. The shark fins you see adjacent to the boat are only the fins and about half of the body.
I know Harry Potter is still hot and heavy, but getting rid of this ride for Potter boy was honestly the dumbest thing that universal did. They could’ve put Harry Potter somewhere else.
An emergency stop button was placed on each boat. If it was triggered, it disengages the attraction completely, to the point that it would damage itself. Most of the animatronic sharks would probably break, but they do this to keep people safe.

Ride should have been made so u can't fall out.
Ben Borenstein we are sin the same boat lol also that’s a joke lol
Looking at how the water looks make me think of this I hate it
someone actually did fall off the boat and that exact time the shark came ripped off his leg that ez with those teeth and he died later at the hospital true story creepypasta
@Fionn Kilfeather The sharks were moved by hydraulics using vegetable oil. Due to the oil leaks, the water looked so murky.
Almost reduces me to tears that they got rid of the ride. Universal Studios isn't what it used to be.
Don't worry there is this ride in japan today
They did it because a guy fell in and broke basically his whole body

Its in japan stupid
@@swedits3965 i wanna see that happen... im weird 😐😂
That would suck if you fell into that. Imagine being sucked into all the machinery as it was moving. Noooo thank you.
Ryder Young this is my nightmare I legit have nightmares about it
@@musictheatersix244 Ikr! That would be horrifying.
That happened to a man, and the worst part is that he fell in a hole which had the most machinery in it, the hole went at least 10ft down.
tee hee 🤯🤯 I feel so bad for him and his family😔
@@ryderyoung9733 baha! Yeah, he didn't die BUT he did sue universal studios for 1M
I still think it would have been cool to have one or two of the sharks put into the lake at Universal, and every now and then have the shark surface.

Imagine falling in them mouth and then sink to the bottom and then get stuck with these animatronics 0-0
That makes me shiver

@@lazypayday4476 yeah I heard about that. Terrifying.
Which is exactly why 3D rides can't replace these.

I agree man
This is so cool. I love to watch the making of behind all the magic!
Those cyberamic Sharks look like they weren't maintained well
They weren't, Universal is quite bad at keeping their attraction properly maintained. Especially compared to Disney.
@@TheBitBlock I mean just look at Cat in the Hat

Dude this is amazing, never ever saw these photos before! Thank you to the creator! 🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
Awesome Ride, miss it as well as the original King Kong ride
At least we still have it in Japan
I was looking for something like this
This is one expensive ride🤣
70 mil will
Legit terror inducing
The Jaws theme should’ve played in this video

My submechanophobia is knocking in my head
I didn’t know they used a whole shark. When the dead shark comes out of the water I thought it was just the head. But they used a whole shark model.

Wouldn't it be amazing if the lochness monster turned out to be something similar?
IMAGINE HOW EXPENSIVE THE RIDE WAS TO BUILD IT
70mill
Imagine how scary that would be swimming underwater and not knowing there are robotic sharks
Its not real and it's still terrifying! 👀
So the animatronics would be raised out of the water for maintenance? (see 1:28)
Yes.
I get these fears where I fell off the boat and the shark is right under me
Thanks for this
No problem
Imagne when there is the water and you ride the boat but you fell and nobody know you have to swim back and you see the shark is so scary
Muito top👏👏👏👏👏

I have submechano phobia and I regret watching this
I have it too but I feel glad to see this 😆
My new irrational fear is if the ride was still open and I fell in the water and get stuck and the last thing I see is this fucking shark. Nope.
