    The most important thing is to love yourself and love what you do no matter what anyone else thinks. A tool for that is to put up a picture of yourself when you are innocent and to spend time loving yourself as the younger innocent you. I love how the picture of the innocent miniature maker is so prominent in her work space.

    I know that accent, I'm from down the road in Barnsley! I make 1/6th scale miniatures, for fashion dolls, including the furniture and houses, but just for myself as a hobby. I have over 100 dolls of different kinds. It's so good to see the hobby getting this type of attention, Delph Miniatures are well know for their quality and eye for detail. Some of their pieces also work at 1/6th scale. I just wish there was a maker out there doing the same thing but for 1/6th scale, there are lots of us with Blythe and other Japanese dolls that really would love to buy suitable sized miniatures. Then there is always Barbie collectors and the Fashion Royalty dolls etc. Cracking piece of film, thank you!

      How about a translation?
      "Usually start off with the actual thing that you’re making, in front of you; take the colour out and the shape.
      For instance when you’re doing tripe, I can’t stand tripe myself, the thought of it. I went to the butchers myself and got a piece. Had it in a polythene bag on the desk to get the colour right and the texture."
      Be sure to google tripe.

    The woman seems to be negatively judging the people who like to do the Victorian and Georgian style. The reason those styles are so popular is because many people see the craftmanship and beauty that went into absolutely everything from that time period. Even small details in a home like door knobs and gas wall heaters were works of art! Everything now is just plain and functional for the most part. And in my opinion just plain dull and boring.
    And what does she mean this isn't the way we live now? How does she know how my house is decorated? We have many Victorian pieces in our home creating that look in several rooms. I assume there are lots of people who have rooms done in certain periods. Possibly the whole house!

    • @edstella
      @edstella ปีที่แล้ว

      She is not being negative or dismissive. She is not looking down on them. Holden was merely asking do so many miniature creators over-represent Victorian and Georgian style rather than what is contemporary as she does not relate to it or find that the majority of people live in that manner or decorate in that style. Even now, to purposefully decorate in a way to even evoke that style is expensive and to her (and many), it feels alienating from our current time and reality and simultaneously elevates the past to an idealized form that isn't accurate.
      Just like you find more contemporary decor "dull and boring" she is allowed to have her opinions on older styles as well. Personally it's all preference and I respect both styles, but agree with Holden because while I enjoy Victorian and Georgian styles, I do not want that aesthetic for my miniatures and there are never any miniatures that represent the 80s and onwards.

    • @Dion-rz3fz
      @Dion-rz3fz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edstellaWhile at first your comment seemed to be objective, you soon regressed into "looking down on them," yourself. By stating that it "feels alienating from our current time and reality, and simultaneously elevates the past to a n idealized form that isn't accurate," I contend demonstrates your prejudice. Why would decorating a room "alienate us from our current time?!?! We are simply discussing period décor, not an entire life style! I may chose to decorate my front room in High Victorian, though you won't find a butler or a chamber maid upstairs! Its simply a "style" of décor.
      I do wish everything wasn't always mass produced for only the most popular , but that's just the way it will always be. It would be fun to be able to put together something from the 70's, with paneled walls, swag lamps, macramé plant holders, Mediterranean furnishings, but try to find any of that stuff in miniature!
      I also would prefer that there was much more available in 1/6 scale, as I have even more interest in that size, but not the case.
