Thank you for the video on the Metabo TS254… 👍🏻 I have a very small workshop and space is always at a premium, with most of my large gear on wheels. So I decided on this very saw some time ago. It has been great for me with no real issues to speak of. One of the first things I did was purchase and fit a paddle STOP being new to table saws generally I see it as a necessity… ✅
Great to ‘re - find’ your brilliant channel. I followed you until shortly after you moved to Poland. I hope you & your family are good & settled in your home. Joe, Manchester, U.K.
Great to have you back. Yes all good, different to UK in so many ways, bit more difficult to get anything sorted to be honest. But hey it is what it is 😅
Hi, and thanks for a great job with your channel. I own this saw and have some input regarding the fence. What I do to make sure it is parallell to the blade, is this. When the fence is unlocked you pull the red lever on the fence back towards yourself, that makes it square up against the fence rail. After that you lock the fence while still pulling it slightly towards you. For me that makes it repeatably parallell to the blade.
There are 2 screws for squaring up the fence on top of the fence, underneath the auxiliary fence. At the far end of the fence there is a spring loaded nut that you use to adjust how tightly the fence is locked into place.
Thanks for your video. I have a Metabo TS 254 M table saw. This model has no legs and is therefore cheaper (360 euros in Holland). The saw blade has never come loose for me. When you use the rip fence you have to pull it slightly towards you when you move it. If you lock it by turning the handle, you continue to pull a little. The fence is then in the correct position and parallel to the saw blade. If you turn the fence upside down once, you will see why.
Had my TS 254 for a few tears now with regular use. Love the saw, never had any problems with it other than the fence is a bit dodgy. I have only experienced the blade loosening once in all that time. I do like the fast stop.
Hello, I have the 245M for more than 2 Y now and never ever experienced any problem with the blades to have loosen and specifically due to the quick stop. The parallel fence has some specifics when you set it initially to the cutting distance but the moment it is tighten it parallels itself to the blade. The miter gauge sticks/rubs against the table if you push it down due to the plate beneath the protractor.
TS254 had for awhile, just had to replace blade raising mechanism with updated kit as would not wind up jammed. Thread breaking up inside. Thread on new kit is acme same as on vices original fine thread. There is youtubes showing fitting updated kit.
Well I have followed advice from my viewers that have this saw. Basically as you lock the fence you need to pull it towards yourself lol it works but that's not how it should be. If I don't do that the fence will not lock straight. Not had time to mess around with it yet to see how I can adjust it
Hi Tomasz, I am so glad you are going to use and review this saw, I have the TS 254 M, basically the same saw but without the wheels, I bought the Metebo stand for mine. I have to say I am really pleased with mine, it does what I need and compared to what I had before it is a Rolls Royce. As far as the fence goes, mine move about too but I always use a square to check for parallel anyway, but I would be interested to see if you find a problem and maybe resolve it. I agree about the lack of paddle for the stop function, one day I intend to make something myself but have held off until the warranty runs out, I don't want to invalidate that. I still have the original blade in mine and it has had a fair amount of use, but so far no problems with it coming loose as yet. Enjoy having a play with it, I will be very interested in your opinion.
Hi Tomasz the cheapest i have see so far for this Table Saw is £339.00 from FFX. Also it's pronounced MetaRbo, obviously there isn't an R but that's how it is pronounced saying it as if there is an R in it. Thanks for the video and i don't know where you got the price for it from but i found this price from FFX. Take Care and Stay Safe, Barry (UK) 👍
Got the price from the first search on UK Amazon. Maybe FFX has a deal on it now? With the pronunciation just went to a German website to hear how to pronounce it and I couldn't hear the R 🤔 Would it be pronounced differently by English speakers to the original German pronunciation? Got me interested in this now, I'm off to watch some German TH-camrs 🤣
@@CasualDIY Maybe? there are some English speaking words that sound like they have an R but there isn't in the spelling like Metabo, you must have heard a few when you were living over hear. Barry (UK)
@@barryroberts6470 Hi Barry, it's Barry here 😁 ... the price you are looking at is for the lower powered 1500W version I believe (TS 254 M) ... the one Tomasz is using is the 2000W version, which is the more expensive one on the FFX website ... rated input power of S1 1700W (continuous duty) and S6 2000W (continuous operation periodic duty) ... like I know what that means!!!!! There seems to be multiple models of the TS 254 M and the TS 254 on the Metabo website and they all seem to have the exact same specifications with different order numbers ... might be the type of plug fitted!
I think this saw is better than the evolution. Evolution seems weaker. From the info i can find the evolution R5 does 2500 rmp vs 4500 on Metabo. Same 1500 wat motor. Can you elaborate on that please.
The Evo rpm is lower to accommodate for the multi purpose blade that cuts through metal as well as wood and other materials. Evo will cut bit slower but it doesn't lack power if you know what I mean
Last one..another guy said the measurement strip on the evolution rage 5 was a night mare. Said he had to use maths to figure out measurements? That's a deal breaker for me. I'm.no good with maths at all. Am I annoying you..sorry. I have a Triton I bought back in the 90s. It terrible. I think.anything is a step up from that thing. A circular shoved under a bench..lol
Measurement strip? You mean the sticker on the rail that the fence slides on? If so then not sure what maths do you need to work anything out? Its a sticker so eventually it will peel off. To be honest I have never used that on any of the saws I used. Unless you are referring to something else?
Thanks for the review, Tomasz! 😊 Interesting saw indeed... But judging by the other comments I'm a bit afraid of it. 😬 I hope it can be modified, somehow, to eliminate the issues... Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Tomas. Be careful with the deck on this machine. I have the TS216 and the powder coating started peeling off. Sent it back and Metabo trashed it (see my video in my channel). Got it replaced by FFX. Never used new one but still evidence of peeling powder coat.
My apologies my friend. I’ve been occupied with my health issue hence not been in touch with you for a very long time. This saw seems a bit better than RAGE 5S, especially with the dust collection category. I haven’t been watching with my RAGE 5S since last summer. I’m hoping to get a bigger Shed with a solid ground so the cuts are better. At the moment it is very difficult to cut straight cut consistent because of wobbly floor. I also will change the cart as it is very difficult to get to the bottom of the pile when you need one similar to the problem you are having. In a way, it is very much similar to yours because I used your design but smaller version without wheels/casters. I’m thinking to make a smaller cart with some bins for small/thin pieces. Steve Ramsey got a nice but small cart as well as storage idea for long timbers on the wall. Perhaps, you might find interesting for your shop unless you already updated. I’m still struggling with my 3D Printer from Creality. They keep asking me for different steps to do, those I did many times. Another video will be out soon as they wanted to see how I do update the Firmware. Anyway, matey I’ve notice you updated and perhaps added some features with this Saw. I’m going to binge watch all those this afternoon. Look after yourself and Stay Safe my brother. Remember, *_Life_* is *_Short_* so, *_Live Long_* and *_Prosper_* 🖖 Cheers!!!
Hopefully you health is back on track. There is nothing more important than good health. Plenty of projects ahead of you and I hope you will get some inspiration from my projects as well. As always all the best and keep well.
Hi Tomasz, do yourself a favourite and stay away from this saw it is riddled with issues. You are better off with the dewalt it has a better fence, and reliability is not an issue.
Yes I will be going in depth on all the issues I will come across with this saw. Some nice features on it but may not be as good as it seems at first glance
I had done a lot of research around 3 years ago when I was looking for a table saw myself. I initially tried the lumberjack TS 1800, which was a great saw but Unfortunately, it was too big for my workshop otherwise i would have kept it. I ended up with the axminister AC254. This saw was not perfect. It Had an issue with blade wobble went back 3 times eventually I had to fix myself. I think if I was looking for a job site. So it would have gone for the dewalt
Thank you for the video on the Metabo TS254… 👍🏻

Any updates on the fence? I just send my saw back to metabo after it kept kicking stuff back due to the fence locking it at an angle.

Heard about some issues with this saw but not that one. The table top coating has worn off a bit and I know the saw wasn't used that much 🤔
