Juang 45 Tambun Building is a historical building from the Dutch era.
currently functioning as the Bekasi Museum, and also many people who make tourism in Bekasi, this building is also one of the history of Indonesian independence, the history of the struggle of the people of Bekasi. many Bekasi fighters who took this building back from the colonial position, this historic building is preserved by the Bekasi Regency Tourism Office.
This famous building in Tambun has become a building of pride for the people of Bekasi, and has become a historical icon of Tambun.
Juang Tambun Building is a historical site located in South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, Indonesia.
Juang Tambun building was built in two stages by a noble baba and landlord, Khouw Tjeng Kee, Luitenant der Chinezen. He has two brothers, Luitenant Khouw Tjeng Tjoan and Luitenant Khouw Tjeng Po. Their father was a landlord named Luitenant-titulair der Chinezen Khouw Tian Sek.[1]
After the death of Luitenant Khouw Tjeng Kee, the management of both the private land and Landhuis Tamboen fell into the hands of the Luitenant's son, Khouw Oen Hoei. He is the younger brother of O. G. Khouw who is buried in the famous and luxurious mausoleum at Petamburan. Their most prominent cousin in the colonial era was Khouw Kim An, the last Majoor der Chinezen in Batavia, who was the son of their uncle, Luitenant Khouw Tjeng Tjoan.[1]
Landhuis and the private land of Tamboen were confiscated from the Khouw van Tamboen family in 1942 during the Japanese occupation. During the war of independence against the Dutch, Gedung Juang which at that time was known as Gedung Tinggi was used as a place of defense by the freedom fighters who were centered in the Tambun and Cibarusah areas.
The Tambun fighting building is located only a few kilometers from the border of the outermost area of Batavia, namely the Sasak Rare area which is now the border area between the East Bekasi sub-district, Bekasi city and South Tambun sub-district, Bekasi Regency. As a result of the frequent attacks of the Dutch defenses in the Bekasi area, the Dutch often left their defensive bases in the Bekasi area and withdrew to strengthen their defense area in Klender, which later became the boundary between the city of Bekasi and East Jakarta.
This building is also the place for the exchange of prisoners between the Dutch and the Indonesian freedom fighters. The Indonesian independence fighters were repatriated by the Dutch to the Bekasi area and the Dutch troops were sent back to Batavia via Tambun Station, which is directly behind this building.
