I don't follow any TH-camr to learn English because of this reason most of them confuse people .we can't learn English by this way gaya,aaya, chuka hai no never we'll always think before speaking English .You are 100% correct here .Action took place in the past but we have an effect in present .
"I have visited Shimla" is correct even after returning from Shimla. It tells about your experience in the past without mentioning any specific time. If you want to add time, then "I visited Shimla in 2019" So, Sabka tarika sahi hai. Kisi ko aise point out mat karo. Maintain dignity and sanctity of this profession. Thanks for your efforts. To make people understand the concept is not always easy. Often small children don't get the concept. Rather they want simple formula to speak English quickly. So the way Aditya Sir teaches , is far more easy to grap the concept for the first time. Aditya Sir knows Hindi mind very well, So he made formula for English speaking in primary level. Present perfect ;usage 1 :Lifetime experience 2:Recent past Past simple Any past with time notification Eg I have seen a tiger I have been to Delhi I have read this book twice Life experience I have just finished my homework (Recent past) I saw a tiger yesterday Past simple specific time in past I read that book when i was in school.

You should also mention the time in the sentence. e.g. (I went to Shimla in 2020.) Because you changed the tense while responding the question asked in present perfect tense.
